SO I see some of you guys know about the coast of NC. Who would be up for a masonboro island recreational camping trip?

Masonboro Island is located near wilmington NC, it is an uninhabited island with lots of camping and could be lots of fun.

You would have to canoe a mile out, and I recommend packing in at least some wood to burn, just in case.


probably a 3 day trip. Who would be up for it?

I wouldn't mind doing that. Any place around there that would rent a boat / canoe for a few days ?
 
Looks good to me Joe give a date see if I can make it.Any canoe place to rent around? How close to my old stomping grounds Court House Bay/Onslow Beach?
 
I might be able to provide at least two canoes. More if the outing club lets me. Beyond that, REI and maybe great outdoor provisions, but REI is kinda crazy, round $40 a day. I can also ask to borrow some friends.

this could be fun. Blade only. A few of us would bring back up bags and water jugs just in case.

We could try the no water rule and forage up to a point. If anyone gets remotely dehydrated they can go to the water jug.

Will set up guidelines soon, here are some ideas for brain storming:

A small PSK should be OK, don't you think? It would give us a chance to fish out there. I dunno how I would do out there without the sling spear, but we could try!!

2 blades, one smaller than 4 i(maybe 3? like a necker?) inches and a chopper/machete/ full axe no smaller than 9/12 inches all the way out to a whopping 24" blade (keep in mind this location is zombie free)

Dogs are allowed, they do not have to follow the PSK rules :)

Small tarp only, must use boat as shelter.

Aug 7-9
Aug 14-16

Amenities such as Old Bay crab seasoning, and sunblock/ bug juice should be allowed I think. We want to have fun not punish ourselves.
 
I just did a check.

I will have 5 (!) canoesat the very least in my possession at that, plus 2 kayaks and some other things. A trailer will be available too. So don't let the lack of a boat stop you!!!!
 
So... an Izula and Gerber Camp Axe would work? Get a firm date, and I'll check my schedule. Sounds like fun! :thumbup:
