Of course everyone knows the Portal models have the best action...Received my second today, a PJ model. After comparing the two, the PJ is obviously heavier and as a result of the extra heft has a firmer more positive feel to the lock up. You wouldn’t think a little milling would change the feel a noticeable amount. In my opinion it would be an injustice to not experience the feel of the solid scaled model. I am truly blown away by these knives! And the value is ridiculous. These are both keepers for sure.

*Edit* I weighed them and they are only 5 grams different (equal to the weight of the cap of a space pen with clip) so maybe the difference in feel of the flip and lock up is from a difference in rigidity?

Just got it Today! My wife met the Fed Ex guy at the end of the driveway while leaving for work and did me a favor by keeping it with her so it didn't get stolen from the front door![]()
so when I got home yesterday of course I looked in all the spots we put mail and found nothing, well no big deal, it was still early with time to get dropped off but when I check my delivery status online to see how close it was it said in big letters (Delivered)! Needless to say I calmly Freaked Out and started calling my kids to see if they received it to which they all replied NO so with sweaty fingers I called the little woman at work and it turns out that she had it and it was safe and sound in her car
but I bit my lip and thanked her for looking out for me. After cleaning the light coating of oil of the scales I sat on the couch and flicked it a 100 times at least. Everything about this knife is Perfect, F&F, Centering, Detent strength, Edge sharpness and the stone wash finish is just Perfect. After handling it and if I didn't know the price I would pay double what I payed for it. Finally I bought a knife that I didn't have a smidge of buyers remorse for after receiving it, Not a smidge
Problem is now I want the Purple one

Ha ha you beat me to it RBid. Such a solid deployment and it's a 10 on the Drop Shutty scaleSomebody said a thing about action?
My guess would be that any differences in the flipping/locking action wouldn't have anything to do with the particular milling pattern. More likely the lockbar tension and/or depth that the detent ball sinks into the hole in the blade tang are responsible for any such differences. And, as with all production knives, there will always be some slight variation between examples.
