Massive Fixed Blades - Choppers, Bowies, etc.

I when through that phase, I think a Lot of us do.....?
I started with Beckers. Tough, user knives.
Then I wanted More, Bigger and bigger.

Then I learned that thin Actually Wins!
It was a learning experience. Now, an 1/8" or so sometimes feels thick.

What burned me out on thickness was a Svord Von Tempsky Golack. Idk If I spelled that right???

It's Huge.
Too big.
Hurts my arms. Seriously.
I should just sell it. And it's probably cheaper than anything on those other lists.

*I'll see if I can add a photo later. ;)
Pics? I might take it off your hands.

I totally agree about the phases of knife collecting...I've been collecting, on and off, since the original Rambo movie/knife came out!! I went through the slicer phase also, but never had the big boys until recently. They are awesome! I love 'em. As I said, probably will not use them, but I like the look/feel of them.

Thanks for the info, friend! Blessings on this fine Sunday!!

Here's a few pics ... 13" long blade approx 12.5" sharpened. .300" thickness of spine.

Next to my 1311.... It make the Scrapyard feel dinky....

Edit*
My hand is resting against the log...lol.
It weighs 2 pounds 11 ounces unsheathed according to my scales.

Take a look at the 1796 from Windlass. 16mm (5/8”) at the hilt! Would certainly make for a nice display piece.

I believe the Bark River Crusader came-in at around .28" or .29" thick (*of 3V, no less)...

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you just missed a helluva' deal on one in the Exchange. I think it sold yesterday or the day before.

If they came out with the tempsky bowie in a even larger version, I would throw my money after them. Make this thing 4 pounds, half inch thickness monster nearly nobody can handle. Instant buy😅

Be cautious with both of those. They have an odd construction that uses a steel cable to connect the blade tang to the pommel. It makes for a lively fighter but weakens the handle for heavy chopping/batoning.

I saw one that was deconstructed, the cable is a cool design. It was a wood handle version that was cracking. The handle is filled entirely with epoxy so was a pain to take apart. The guy did a linen handle that would be much stronger. The handle is fitted into the guard about 3/8" so should be plenty strong. I suspect the newer Laredo and Natchez with linen will have fewer issues.

Hossom Foresters pop up now and then.View attachment 2202439
That's a great knife, but an awful sheath. A decent sheath will bring your knife alive.
