...anyway i am donating the Strider to the local scouts club.
Thanks Chris and Anne for making it possible.

That's a very kind thing to do, well done

I hope that the small Sebenza is with you quickly, I'll predict that you'll really enjoy her  Let us know how it all pans out anyway, kostak

Mark :)

If differing opinons were the measure, then almost all BF threads would wind up in Whine and Cheese. Sebs get trashed all the time. Strider takes a hit now and then. Remember, lots of opinions are like .... well, eveyone's got one! I personally like both makes and both have a strong following. To each his own.

What makes you think the Striders are more "tactical" than the CRKs?
Because they said so and because they have pictures of "military" guys all dressed up in their "tactical" gear holding a Strider knife? Man you people are so gullible. I must say, Striders knives do market themselves very well, I'll give them that. They should just stick to making fixed blades and leave folders to more capable hands. How hard is it to sharpen a piece of steel anyway?

Maybe it's because they have rigs that attach to a 6004 "tactical" leg holster, or because when you're wearing "tactical" raid gear some of us gullible people wear to save our lives, we can't carry every tool to get the job done so we gullible people have to settle for the knife we're carrying. Yes, there are many of us gullible people that really depend on our knives on a daily basis to perform "tactical" duties, or maybe a cord wrapped handle will give us gullible people a better grip on the knife when wet, oily or bloody when doing something "tactical." So why don't think before you make blanket statements referring to "you people." When it come's to being "tactical," all it means is that you have a "plan" or "strategy" and everyone's different.

I was lucky to be at a show where someone was selling a standard and classic small Sebenza. The classic fit my hand much better. Something to consider, anyway...

I'ved owned five Sebenzas and still own two. A small Sebenza is my EDC. I love the fact that you can take it apart and clean & lube it. The fit & finish is great.
I've also owned a couple of Striders, both AR's (folders). I still have one of them. The fit & finish is not quite as good as a Sebenza, but it's still pretty good. The AR is a larger, more heavy duty knife. I carry it when backpacking, camping, hiking, canoeing, etc. and have no fear of breaking it.
I once asked Chris Reeve if he would ever make a folder that was larger (with thicker blade stock) than the large Sebenza and he said no. He figures if you need something stronger than the Sebenza, you should use a fixed blade. The Strider is almost like a fixed blade, but much more convinient to carry. It's the next best thing to an extra large Sebenza.

I don't want to start a bashing forum but I had the same problem. I traded a custom for a Strider since they are supposed to be the "mack daddy" of folders in terms of toughness. When I received it, it was very sharp and the lock up was solid. However, I did not like the handle and blade configurations. They could do away with the finger groove on the blade in my opinion and make that more of a cutting surface. I then traded for a Pheasant Tailed Custom Sebenza and realized just how dumb I was. The Strider can not be compared to this Sebenza. The Sebenza is very well made and there were no rough edges at all. I won't be using my knife as a prybar and I don't get into my knife is tougher than your knife sort of thing. I use my knife for box cutting and rope cutting. The Strider is a good knife for those who desire a macho man knife but it won't out cut a sebenza in any way shape or form. The quality of Striders is not that of a Sebenza. They are not for me but my fellow members may adore them. I have since them sent my Sebenza for a dual thumb stud modification and will be pocketing this knife on a daily basis and will chuckle at those personnel who hype their Striders to be the next best thing since sliced bread. Thanks for reading my forum post!!

IF WAR IS HELL, TAKE A BETTER PITCHFORK THAN THE DEVIL

I have an observation, a while back I had a small sebenza up for trade, I was looking for a Strider folder, I didn't get one offer. That tells me the majority of the people who own striders, like em'.

I own more CRK knives than I do Strider, of all the knives I own from these 2 companies, never have I had a single problem with any of them. They both make great knives and I think anyone who bashes either company has never actually owned one.

I love my Strider's and I love my Seb's.

I love the finger choil on the blade. It allows me to choke up on my grip for precise, fine work. I find the Strider AR to be surprizingly comfortable for such a large knife.

Some of us do occasionally need to use our knives to pry. It's nice to know that the Strider can handle it pretty well. Some of us also sometimes need a larger knife, but don't want to carry a fixed blade. That's where the Strider AR fits in.

"The quality of Striders is not that of a Sebenza."

I agree 100% that the Sebenza is nicer than the Strider in terms of fit & finish. There are no folders any better in my opinion. The Sebenza's size is also far more practical for everyday use (for me). But perfect fit & finish doesn't necessarily add to the function or durability of the knife. The Sebenza will also not out cut the Strider, but it will break more easily

And on a final note, if I could only own one folder, it would most likely be a small Sebenza (or maybe a large). But since I can own as many as I like, there is definitely a place for a Strider in my collection.

Since this thread isn't dead yet, let me say this. I own a Strider, it doesn't make me want to own any additional Striders.

I have mumble, mumble number of sebenzas and I STILL want more of them.
