Okay, I don't think Matt cuchiara is scammer, rather he might of lost his phone or something..... Well i bought three knives from him on instagram for $125 THREE WEEKS ago, he has only responded one time after i paid (a week later) saying his internet was out. Other people who bought knives got them right away.
Also this isn't a custom knife- its a used boker kwaiken and a couple others.

Also- I sent the funds as paypal gift...... bad choice, I know, but i didn't think this situation would arise from a prominent knife maker. Ill update once(if) i get in contact.
Does anyone have direct contact with him??????

UPDATE 12/31/2017- I got in contact with him, I got the knives. All good on my end.

Never heard of him. Positive spin: You will be out only $125 and a few week's worth of angst at worst. Still, $125 is $125...

Title says he scammed you but post says you don't think he's a scammer? Well 3 weeks last contact was his Internet is down and you paid gift. Now what do you think happened you have been here a bit and with a 93 feedback score you know the drill. I hopeyou see your knives but the information about the deal you posted seems highly unlikely. Smh when will people stop using gift.

^ Nobody ever does!

After all of the countless times we've seen this exact same: "I sent the funds as a PayPal gift" story line posted here, I personally wouldn't be coming on here posting such an embarrassing self indictment of (________).

The good news: worst case scenario, you're only out $125...and, you'll never buy a knife using the PP Gift option, ever again!

And to think, that adding a measly $3.75 worth of "buyer protection," would've avoided any need for this thread. Good luck, I hope you get your knives.

Unfortunately you did the 2 things that almost guarantee a disaster.
#1 Paid in full before it was finished
#2 Paid as gift instead of G&S
You should also consider the 3% as insurance for your purchase.
Hindsight is 20/20 but hopefully you learned a valuable lesson from this. We sometimes get too comfortable on BF thinking if they belong to it they must be honest.
I would like to believe that but as you saw it is not exactly true. If I see someone list their item with an option to pay F&F I keep going. As far as I am concerned they are setting me up, I also do not get involved with members who expect you to do the math for them.

I dealt with Matt all the time back in the day over customs and he's a good guy, I highly doubt he scammed you. I know it sucks to hear but give him a little time and I'm sure he'll come through..

My best guess is that you either weren't dealing with Cucchiara the knife maker, or you will eventually get your knives. I don't know where he is located , but there are parts of the country that are still without internet after the storms.
However if you send PP gift, that is what it is -a gift

This whole F&F thing is getting monotonous. "I cheated PayPal and the "guy" cheated me. Once again we ride the merry-go-round.
I really have no sympathy. How could I have any sympathy left?

But I am genuinely interested in the thought process in not paying G&S. I'd love for the OP to explain it to me.

The thought process for these incidents might be something like "Why should I pay extra just to buy something through PayPal?!"

I completely agree with using G&S, and have little sympathy for F&F blunders. I stop taking these posts seriously as soon as I see "Yeah I know, shouldn't have done F&F". At the end of the day, PP is a service, and all services cost something. The cost and benefits far outweigh the pocket change you'd save whilesimultaneously exposing yourself to scammers.
