I like Matt Lamey,and I like his knives.
Took me a long time to get to this and am reluctant to do it now.
7 1/2 months ago I had a Lamey bowie for sale.Matt contacted me and said he wanted to buy it.
I had just sent him another Bowie that needed some tweaking or replacing the handle.
Sent him the Bowie for sale and he did some mods on the blade and sent me the pics.Loved the changes and told him I wouldn't mind having it back.Looked great.
We agreed on a price for the mods and told him I would send him a check.Sent the money sometime later.
Matt emailed me and said he had to replace the handle,and what would I prefer.Told him ironwood is my choice.
I realize that he had a lot of problems with the hurricanes,ect.
Matt contacted me and said he was moving to Memphis.Have not heard from him in 4 or 5 months.
Cell phone # is someone else.
Number on his site is an answering machine/with no response.
I am a reasonable and patient man,but those who know me when I have had enough,I've had enough.
Matt,I want my knives back.No more excuses.
Any other advise from collectors.

i feel you...Nifrand. i too have (2) undelivered sheaths from Matt. i understand he moved to a new home. i've waited too long for my sheaths. the first time i bought a knife the sheath was never delivered and i let it go...but then i bought a second knife, since i do like his knives. so i brought up the sheath issue and he said he would take care of it along with the new sheath for the second knife.
i've been patient...as i understand that he sends the sheath work to someone else. it's just ashamed that i can't carry the knives when i go camping.
i hope eveything is well with him and his family and that we both hear from him soon.

I think this has been rectified.
I Just now got off the phone with Matt. Life has been a bit hectic and he is going to get his shop up soon. Nice young man and a great maker. Needs to get his priorities straight sometimes.
We have all been there.

Matt sure has had his problems. I hope he manages to get things together. He has an immense amount of talent.
You said it Nifrand, we have all been there but some people tend to forget that.
I see all these post and I have stopped what little orders I have with the public and completed all transations before a major surgery due to military injury.
Sometimes people forget that the boat rocks both ways.
