I just got these images back from Sam Welch the engraver. I made this and sold it at the Reno Show without engraving. My collector sent it to Sam. I cant believe the talent he has!
I just thought you guys would like to see it.

I have just started making one of these ,I think it will go in the scrap metal bin after seeing this one.

What are the dimensions on that? I have to say, that is all the advertisement I ever need to see for the benefits of collaboration. Beautiful.

There is nice...and then there is....ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! Absolutely beautiful!!!!!!

Absolutely beautiful! It really shows what can happen when two masters of the craft apply their skills! -Matt-

Wow!! what size wheel was it ground on?

It was ground on a 5" wheel. I like the small hollow because it lets the ridge stay higher.

Thanks guys for all the kind words.

I want to learn how to engrave but I cant see myself doing this quality of work. I cant even figure out how Sam did the celtic pattern. Just one slip and its a modified celtic.

I feel Tinbasher's pain. Dang, I'm a newbie and looking at beautiful works like this make me want to buy some sunglasses and sell pencils on the corner (oh that's after putting out my eyes and cutting my fingers off. LOL :D

Seriously, thats great stuff. Your engraver is a phenom and you are as well. I'm gonna go make mud pies now. LOL:D

Bruce,

The engraving is a superlative job. Your knife making skills are amazing. I really like the way you indexed all the screw heads  WOW!

man-oh-man-oh-man is that ever beautiful Bruce !!

Elephant Ivory Scales ? Curious as to the other materials used in the build too. Do you call that a feather pattern damascus Bruce ? Its beautiful !!

The indexed screws do attract attention. The depth of the counter bore is critical and then the underside of the screw head may need adjustment by removing metal. The large screw on the pommel I made on the lathe and cut the slot myself but the small screws are stainless slotted 2-56. With fine threads ya get a better chance of having most of them lined up anyway.
