Maxipedition Packs

Little better, i'll stick with my cameron ancient hunting pattern great kilt. Can't wear it in the summer tho. Need a small kilt.or i could just wear my breechclout.:)

I've only a 10x4 bottle holder that's great for short day hikes, but was curious as to the sabercat for extended trips as well. Anyone use one?

I carry my pygmy Falcon everyday, it is very comfortable and carries plenty of gear.

The only maxpedition pack I realy liked the look of was the typhoon gearslinger but it seems to be discontinued

In the end I went for an ATS Cobra pack

I just sold one and bought the new Sitka gearslinger and it's a much better pack. The Typhoon had a design issue in that the shoulder strap was on the wrong side and made it difficult to sling for right handed people. The newer ones such as the Malaga can be used on either shoulder.

I could have gone all day without that mental picture.

Anyone have a Condor 2? It seems it has more open area in the main compartment where the Falcon 2 has more compartments. I do like the looks of the PF2. I remember your pics TTD with your gear loaded in it. Seemed like it was a tight fit though.

I have a condor 2 and i like it a lot. can't compare to the falcon 2 cause I never had a chance to hold one. but I like the condor and I have the bottle holder attached to one side and the mini rollypolly attached to the other side.
and if that isnt enough you still can put the bladder in the pack.
that sums up to 5 liters of water!

I just bought a Kodiak gearslinger. so far I'm diggin it. buku organization. I've have a blackhawk assault, camelback bmf, northface packs. All of them have big F'n pockets with no organization. You just have to rummage through your kit to find something I F@$KIN hate that. Jury still out on extended wear comfort. The MOLLE straps allow additional customization. The velcro fields allow for a couple of CCW options too. Got mine in Foliage Green so I can carry it in uniform.

Now for all that "manly bag" discussion. I have to agree with another poster. Real men don't care what other people think. If it works, use it. I, and I assume most of you, don't buy and use gear just to impress people. Waste of time and money if you ask me.

I have a Pygmy Falcan II and love it...seems to have quite a bit of room for a day pack. If it hasn't already been mentioned...try LA Police Gear http://www.lapolicegear.com

They've been running a lot of 15% of specials lately. Got mine for 30% off...but that is rare.

Been looking at the various gearslingers, as I tend to carry my aging Kelty by only one strap anyway. But how are they on the trail? Is there any way to secure them from "slinging" when you don't want them to?

Someone may have already answered that question - so point me there if you will.

I have a Malaga gearslinger. The gearslingers have a secondary stability strap that you can snug down. They don't swing much unless you want them to.

Questions guys

do you have the regular Maxped Vulture II or the Pygmy Vulture II?? i cannot decide between the two. it will be used for day hiking mainly and MAYBE some one night camping. i have a larger kelty pack that holds tents and etc for longer hikes..

Cool. I'm sold then - I like both the Malaga and the Remora, so I may just have to take the plunge.

Thanks for the info.

I think after all of this I am leaning toward the Falcon 2 with water bottle attachments on the side. I guess I could always sell it if I dont like it.
On the other hand, Jeff and Mike could just break down and design a "RAT-PACK".

You will enjoy it I'm sure. It's a great pack. Get some electrical tape cases to store your possibles in the extra space inside the bottle holders. Stay with the Nalgene bottles and get a couple of steel cups to set them in. Each one can break down into a PSK if necessary. Post some pics when you get it together. ENJOY!

I love my Malaga. Once you get it snugged up you forget it's a one strap. The stabilization strap does wonders, too. :)
