Maxpedition 10" x 4" Bottle holder

Thanks, great review.

One question: What size Guyot fits in the 10x4? I'm waiting on some of the 38oz. ones from Two Wolves, and I'm not sure if I need the 10x4 or the 12x5.

This thing looks like a perfect fit for my Maxpedition Manta versa pack thingie.
I got it as a birthday gift and was wondering what, exactly, I was going to attach to it besides the M-5 pouch. Now I'll have a pouch for my stainless steel Wiggy's bottle and cup.

Anyone know if the 10x4 will fit a 48oz Guyot?....or does that mean needing the 12x5?

PS: Great review by the way.

I wasn't aware that Guyot made a 48 oz bottle. Their website shows a 38 oz, which I have, and it fits just fine.

I think you are right...I misread a receipt I was referring to for a different canteen I bought. It must be 38oz...good to know :)

Will the 10x4 hold the 38oz guyot or do I need to go with a 12x5?

Yep 10x4 will hold the 38oz guyot standard, and GSI cup. Still has room in the lid too.

I'm debating on the 10 x 4 or the 12 x 5. A 12 x 5 would give a little more room to make a kit out of, but I don't want to go too large for when I'm carrying a larger pack.

I went with the 10x4 personally - the 12x5 is HUGE! But I just wanted a minimal grab-and-go kit for afternoon hikes. So it just depends on how much extra space you want. Remember though, most of the extra space will be in the "tube" part where your bottle and cookset go (the side pockets on both sizes are about the same) so considering what you want to pack and how it will be organized is important.

IIRC, there is a side-by-side comparison pick someplace..maybe TwoWolves site(?)

I like the maxpedition and I considered buying it. I don't like the size/weight, and I have no need for all the pouches and zippers. I prefer to keep extra gear in my pack or in cargo pockets, but that's just one way to carry gear. The maxpedition is a great bottle bag and clearly works very well for many people. In the end, I opted for the Equinox bottle bag, which I have taken on trips to the mountains and the deserts. I really like it. Fits my bottle and canteen cup perfectly. Pics below.

I really need to stay off Bladeforums. LOL. Just ordered a Maxpedition 10x4, Snow Peak 700, GSI stainless cup, that aftermarket cover for the Guyot Standard(bottle seems to be sold out everywhere now), and Katadyn purification tablets. Unreal... :D

...add a Klean Kanteen 40oz Wide to that list. Sigh....

On a recent hike I was carring my stuff in a small, cheapo Camel Back knock-off hydration pack minus the bladder. My Guyot bottle and cup were in an EMS insulated carrier that was hanging on the pack's waist belt. It was adequate, but not such a great set up. This thread's revival has got me all worked up to try one of these carriers now!

Well..... I finally ordered that 10 x 4 today. It only took me five years to do it. I really shouldn't have waited so long.
