Maxpedition 10" x 4" Bottle holder

I purchased the 10x4 Condor
It is significantly less expensive

A large Kleen Kanteen and a GSI cup
I carry a alcahol stove and fuel, fire stick and cotton in mineral oil in the side pocket
And some tea and soup sachets
So it is a self contained unit

I am very pleased with it

Interesting thread.
I have never put a lot of effort into exploring water carrying options. I came near to getting a Camel pack once at an army surplus supplier but I didn't care for the low capacity. If I was getting something else, it needed some real capacity. I have a little Max. bag that I slip a canteen into for metal detecting day trips, it meets those needs because I have water back up in the car. But I know that I will need a unit that can hold more volume, so this thread has me thinking. I saw this Max. 10x4 bottle holder a couple of years ago and will likely grab one now. It never occurred to me to create a small pack AROUND the water, as opposed to having the water as a less primary factor. Which it certainly isn't.

I have the Condor version of what was depicted in the original posts of this thread. I also have the GSI stainless mugs and Nalgene bottles. In my experience, the GSI mug is very tight in the Condor. Somewhat difficult to get in, and more difficult to get out. Not impossible, just difficult.

I've had the maxpedition 10x4 since this thread started. I'm thinking of changing to the condor version because the pocket looks like its wider and may hold an emberlit stove.

Anyone able to compare the size of the pockets?

Having only the Condor, I can't compare them. But I did measure mine, and the pocket is 4" wide, 6" tall, and 1" deep.

Another interesting option is the Unisex Tactical 5.11 Durable UV Resistant H2O Carrier. I have no experience but it seems to have good reviews.
