Maxpedition Bottle Holder w/ Kit & Pics

I moved my heatsheet innto the bottom. It rose the bottle up, and freed up some space in the front pocket. Sweeeeet.

Very cool, I didn't even think about it freeing up space in the pocket but now that I look at mine - it definitely does towards the bottom of the pocket.

How did you go about getting those samples? I've always wanted to try kydex sheath making. Not really for knives, but for flashlights and such. What did you request and what would I need to get started? Really like that bottle holder kit idea. Seems like the perfect size for when you don't want to carry a pack

Someone on this site filled me on this tip over a year ago (I can't remember who posted it). If you email Kleerdex at their "sample request" page -
http://www.kleerdex.com/company_samples.asp

Tell them what thickness and what color you would like a sample of - they will send it to you. You don't have to do a thing and it doesn't cost anything, they pay shipping. When I did it they sent 4 12x12 sheets, from what I understand now - they only send 1.

What is a common thickness to request? I'd like to make sheaths that are not heavy and stuff that is easy to work with.

sorry for the late response -

All of my stuff is .093 - I believe there is some in .080 range (not sure of exact thickness). I wouldn't worry too much about it being easy to work with - my .093 was fine. Now, if you are worried about weight - thats another story. Its not that the .093 is "heavy", but it is definitely heavier than some .060 (or whatever thickness is in that range).
