Maxpedition Experience?

I like Maxpedition stuff... I am primarily a day hiker and have used the Devil Dog with an after-market shoulder strap for a couple of years (I EDC a Remora). I also have a Fatboy which is not in circulation, I didn't find it comfortable for hiking or EDC. I think my favorite product is the 10 X 4 bottle holder, it's great for short hikes...

I use a number of Maxpedition's packs & pouches, all well built and pretty well thought out. The Jumbo-VersaPak S is my EDC, go everywhere bag and I love it.
I carry the RC-4 on the outside, with my pistol & extra mags easily accessed by my right hand cross-draw.
On the rear strap I have my UHF/VHF radio, 1st aid, survival stuff inside, enough for 1 -2 days, but would need something else to carry a sleeping bag in cold weather.

My EDC Max-Ped Tactical-Attache briefcase is also a BOB. In Foliage Green it still blends into the evergreen forest here, but gets no "is that military?" looks like OD green and black does. At meetings it gets nothing but positive comments.

My only criticism of many Maxpedition (and others) bags is their made for skinny youngsters. At 5' 10" and a broad-shouldered 220lbs, I usually have to put all straps out to their extreme lenghts and still feels "tight".

Im considering a Vulture II as a bug out bag. I was thinking of the Condor II but being as I will be getting married soon and the future wife has a son, I need to pack for three rather then just myself.
I am also looking at either a Pigmy Falcon or a Jumbo Versipack as a truck pack.

Thanks you all for the quick responses!

Horndog, Jetblack and Stormstaff, how does the versipack ride when you walk?
Is it wobbly, or constantly shifting? That would be a major turn off.
Also I'm curious what you think is the advantage of carrying a bag with only one sling instead of two shoulderstraps.

Thanks in advance! ;)

Sorry I haven't answered sooner. Personally for me, it doesn't slide around and I've found it very comfortable. I switched to the S Type for the reason of being able to wear a knife on my strong side.

As far as advantage of only one sling... it'll force you to pack carefully so you don't overload one shoulder and it's very easy to put on and take off, ie quicker

The Versipak also has a slot to put your belt through, so you can keep it from bouncing or sliding.

The main advantage of "one sling" is you can access the bags contents without having to remove it from your back.

It IS big, but just bear in mind that the people they use for models tend to be small. :)
