Maxpedition Falcon II Question

Isn't it annoying that you can't get anything out of the Proteus though? Connecting it like that closes off both compartments. Only used for stuff you don't use much? I have a condor 2 and a proteus and I like the setup, but it seems like kind of a pain.

Edit: Haha. Totally missed the bottom 2 comments.

You put in things that you'll only need at camp. Problem solved.
The only reason I use the Proteus is for an overnight trip. Otherwise, the Falcon II is a daypack without a heavy load.

I know this is an old thread... I ended up pairing up the falcon II with the saber cat versipack... the bottom straps on the falcon go around the sabercat, and the saber cat has more room than the proteus, and has expansion straps on the bottom as well, that I can use to hang either my wool blanket or my sleeping bag in a compression sack. I also added the large bottle holder on one side that holds my shelter tarp kit, and the smaller water bottle on the other side that holds a steel nalgene, steel cup and my trianga stove. plus the sabercat belt is more comfortable than the proteus. all of this turns the falcon II into a pretty good 3-5 day pack. and yes I know for the price of all these addons I could have purchased a much bigger pack. But I like the idea that I can put this all together for a hiking trip, and then strip everything off and I have a very useful day pack or airplane carry on. I will post pics in this thread next week... I know pictures or it didn't happen.

cheers.

Sounds like you created a nice system.

Just picked up a super falcon today .. its great to see how you fellows added the proteus and sabercat onto it .. i would be trying it out soon or add a padded belt to it instead. .. will see how it will go.

KK, now that you brought that up, this reminded me that the Maxpedition range for the American market only have the #0513 Falcon II & #0517 Pygmy Falcon while its sister brand the Magforce International for asian market has a #0515 Super Falcon which is bigger.

This is my Super Falcon after which i have did some mod to all the zip pulls and Octa waist pack at the bottom. Sold my Proteus a while back but i think a Saber Cat will fit this better. Added in a BK9 in sheath as a reference.

Guyon, would like to borrow your pic as reference pls. check out the lower compartment has 3 molles over it while the Super Falcon has 4 instead.

I'm also quite surprise that Maxpedition did not have that in their range. I'm a big fellow so the falcon 2 look really small on me
