Maxpedition nalgene carrier

Havent seen those yet. Im sure its good stuff, all my Maxpedition stuff is built like a tank

Seems a little pricy though considering you can get a entire Pigmy Falcon II right now for $14 more, and it can hold 2 full size nalgines, and you get a pack.

I think I need one of those. I better buy it before Sicily02 snatches them all up;)!

That is interesting, possibly a good option for my wife, instead of a canteen set up.
If anyone gets one, I'd be very interested in a review, and how much can be put in that front pouch, and how it hangs with a shoulder strap.

where can you get a pigmy falcon for 14 bucks?

I have been looking all over for a good nalgene carrirer. This looks great but whats with the huge price tag. It just carries a water bottle for cryin' out load.

I really like my pygmy falcon II and it was a decent price. It is my favorite day hike pack now. I have bought too much of Maxpedition gear usually at discount. I really like their stuff.

I like the Mini rolly-polly for a Nalgene bottle. I think I would get more use out of using one of those than a dedicated bottle holder.

I like that Nalgene holder with room form more stuff, but for any more than that I would go with a small hydration pack with stowage space-- no end of options and prices.

I wonder if a filter would fit in that pouch. Like the MSR or the Katydyn. Any guesses?

I just got one of these:

I'm sure it's not as tough as the Maxpedition, but I got mine for under 10 bucks at Gander Mountain and I believe it will be plenty sturdy for my purposes. I want to change the strap on it. . . The way it's set up it hangs kind of horizontal, I'd prefer it to be more vertical. The way it is now the bottle can slip out fairly easily if you bend over to pick something up or tie your shoe or anything like that. Thats my only complaint. The bottle actually sits down in the holder quite a bit deeper than is shown in the pic in the link. I can put one of the round Altoids Sours tins in the bottom and that makes the bottle sit right about where it's shown in that pic. The pouch on the Maxpedition one looks bigger. On the Nalgene one the room inside the pouch is smaller than it looks because of the curve of the bottle. I haven't really taken mine out for a hike yet so I can't comment on how it carries or anything, but I like it so far.

Oops, I didn't realize you had linked to the same item there Max. I want to get one of those cups too. There might be just barely enough room for it to fit in the carrier but it'll probably be awfully tight if it fits at all. There are some other bottle carriers on the Nalgene sight too, one of them has a bigger pouch and one is adjustable to hold different sized bottles. . .

Has anyone tried these canteens from Nalgene:

Since you are trying to find cups to fit your bottles, does anyone know if this canteen will fit an army canteen cup?

Saunterer: You can get an army canteen for 1.99 at a surplus store, and while you are there you can get the cup that I guarantee fits, and since your there get a canteen cover to go with it. I really don't know why you would bother with a nalgeen canteen, when you can get a GI one for half the price.

Stingray,

I have many army surplus canteens/cups/covers, just more curious if Nalgene's sizes matched up to the army surplus size.

Plus, if we knifeknuts are willing to spend hundreds on blades and other gear, the $5 difference in a used water bottle versus new is negligible. :)
