There were some posts a while back about maxpedition, I got the feeling that folks had some negative feelings towards them. Not sure if it is the company or their politics or what. But I am looking to get a pack from them and was wondering if any of these problems have to do with quality of products??? I have never owned one, but like those slings they have for dayhiking.

I have never heard of a quality control problem with Maxpedition. I own a ton of their products - way too many than I could use in one lifetime, and wouldn't go near their products if they weren't bulletproof.

After The Endtimes, all that will be left on planet earth are cockroaches and Maxpedition products.

I don't think I've ever read anything negative about Maxpedition. Can you give me a link to the threads you mentioned? I'd be interested in what bad things anyone could say about them. They offer bullet proof products at a decent price. My Vulture II pack is about the same size as the Blackhawk 3 day pack. And it's FAR nicer and better built and costs much less.

I have a couple Maxpedition Dadecapod 12 knife cases and they are built like a tank. I have never used their packs but if they are built like the Dodecapod there shouldn't be a problem on build quality.

With packs though, it's not only build quality that counts. It's also a lot to do with design and ergos. I'm not sure how Maxpedition stacks up in that regard.

I just recently got a smaller maxpedition pack and im really impressed by it, its well built and very comfortable

I love all of my Maxpedition gear. I think you'll find that folks 'round here look on them QUITE favorably. Well thought out and they wear like iron.

Only have a MPB but it's a great bag.
Great quality and very good zippers, only downside is that it's a little stiff when you just get it.

I have one of their packs and it is great.

Only thing is that there products are sometimes a little smaller that they appear to be online.

Add me to the fanclub. I've have several of their bags and a fatboy and have drug them hither and yon and they have weathered the abuse very well. As a matter of fact, the fatboy is just now, after several years, starting to lose the 'new canvas stiffness'.

I have a Sabrecat butt pack in each car with BOB contents and use one for hiking as well

i like em too, i recently picked up my first one - a very very lightly used lunada for $50 . i use it as a case for my netbook, its amazing the amount of room these little things have. i would not hesitate to pick up another model.

I have a Malaga gear slinger, bulletproof construction, materials, and craftsmanship. A bit pricey, but I can't see wearing this thing out in my lifetime.

IIRC there was some tension between Maxpedition people and Strider for a while. It's all pretty old news, but I wouldn't be surprised to find lingering bitterness from some fanboys over the issue.

As for the products, I've bought dozens of their packs and pouches, everything is the highest quality and tightest fit I've ever seen.

The only thing I'd change on my Fatboy and Jumbo Versipacks are the shoulder straps. I'd make them longer. Otherwise, I like them fine.
