May 2023 BOTM: 110 Slim Pro TRX: 3V steel, Brass Scales

I've been trying to order an Alpha Pro for a while now. It keeps getting bumped. First by the April BOTM, then the 532 Legacy, and now the May BOTM.

I think this 110 will look good as the brass gets dinged up some and acquires a patina.

fun fact// I am a Chemical Engineer by education and a professor taught me this to remember what is in brass and bronze. You know they have either copper, zinc, or tin. But which one? So bronze has "nz" in it and it stands for "no zinc". Therefore, bronze is copper and tin, and brass is copper and zinc. Of course, in higher level classes and in real life, we found out there are all sorts of brasses and bronzes with different elements in them, like aluminum, for example.//end of fun fact

I really wish Buck would join the 21st century and show your purchase history when you logged into your account!!!!

This is the 2nd time I have purchased something and didn't get a confirmation email of the purchase.
Hence no shipping or tracking info either.

Last time I got the knife.

My credit card confirmed the purchase of this.......
Consider signing up for a USPS Informed Delivery account. It would notify you that you have a package shipping to your address from Post Falls, Idaho weather Buck let you know about it or not. Same with any other package from any other place as long as it has a USPS tracking number and it's headed for your address. It doesn't cost anything to create an account and if you have more than one package in transit, you can track them all on the same page so you don't have to track each one separately. You can even give each one a name so you know which tracking number is for which item.

I believe this is the 1st 110 Slim Pro TRX full metal handle scale released by Buck ?

Is this the first 110 full metal handle scale released by Buck ?

Thank you
Technically, the Legacy Ti frame TRX is the first all metal framed 110. Actually having "110" in the model number.

But... if you count other models that share most parts with the 110, you have to include the original 111 classic aluminum, 186 Ti, and 560 Ti.

This really isn't the first full brass frame either as I have 1 of the 5 or 6 brass framed 111s made.

Interesting.

I don’t know if it fully counts but there was also a brass 186 offered through BCCI but that one was done by JAG.

Great info ! Thank you. The 110 Legacy slipped my mind. I know I was trying to remember some knife, but for some reason I was thinking vintage. The joys of getting old : )

I would still like to see a 112 with a sterling silver handle. The guy from Buck already said they did that in the past and it didn't sell that well. Maybe would take about 5 ounces of silver, which is about $150 in material cost alone.

Bismuth would be cool with its iridescent qualities. It may be too brittle to use directly but maybe encapsulate it in a clear resin.

Gold, platinum, palladium are too expensive but it would be cool. Maybe if I win the lottery.

Nickel would be good, but it looks just like stainless steel. Maybe brushed nickel.

Aluminum has been done previously and it's OK. But kind of soft, in my opinion.

So that leads me to thinking they should also consider some kind of stone or mineral. There are a lot of options on that.

And, of course, bone, horn, and leather are universally liked.

It's not just that though. I would also like the orders just to be kept so I can see my purchase history. All the other places that sell knives do that. If I forget to enter my knife in my inventory spreadsheet, I can always go make to my order confirmation emails. But if you didn't get one of those, you have nothing.

So strictly speaking - being Buck produced only, and only the 110 model number (regular version or TRX version)

2023 Legacy 110 Slim Pro TRX - Titanium

2023 May Buck Of The Month 110 Slim Pro TRX - Brass

Thank you for the detailed info / model numbers
