Mayo/Buck Pictures

Looks great, a must have for the frame-lock knife-knut! Buck has a winner with this one.

Well, at least now I know where part of my income tax return will be going. So, who ISN'T getting one?

Man , I can't wait to get one of those. If it's half as nice as it looks in the pictures, the Buck/Mayo is going to give my Sebbies a serious run for the money. Actually, since the blade is 3.25" (right in between the blade lengths of the large and the small Sebenzas), I'll have a good excuse to carry both a Sebbie and the Buck/Mayo. That's what I call a win/win situation!

As long as it's well-executed, Buck may have a real winner on it's hands. It really looks great. It's also interesting to see the "semi-custom" market start to take off. (The other example being Lone Wolf Knives--with it's high quality Loveless and Tighe designs)

It's a great time to be a knifeknut.:D

This is probably a stupid question, but what's the difference between the Buck/Mayo TNT and the actual Mayo TNT (aside from the fact that the Mayo is custom made)? Will the tolerances on the Buck/Mayo be good (no blade play, etc)? They look practically identical...

The Buck uses S30V instead of talonite, and the holes on the Buck line up. :D

I just talked to a fellow about ordering one and got a response back that he is expecting them in mid to late February. Guess I will also be getting one as it will probably be the nearest I get to actually owning a TNT. Guess I can always play with Brandon's and Mike's when the N.C. Knifeknuts get together!:D

if its not talonite, then why is it still called the TNT?.. doesn't TNT stand for Talonite 'n Titanium?

Buck doesn't call it a TNT, its a Buck 172 or 176 something like that:)

Hi all. I dont know, im definitely very curious to see/handle this knife when it comes out, but i cant help but doubt that it will rival a CR Sebenza in quality, ie. fit and finish.

I have handled probably hundreds of Chris Reeve knives and i have YET to see one with any sort of flaw in fit/finish, i have yet to see one with even the smallest amount of blade play, or anything but flawless lockup, and i know Buck makes a decent knife, but do you really think that theyre capable of the level of quality that CR is, considering that a CR knife truly is custom quality? In fact, most custom knives arent any better fit/finish-wise than a CR. I dont know, i HOPE it's as good as we are all hoping, but im not holding my breath, especially after hearing so many reports of excessive blade play on the Buck/Striders. But, if i handle one, and there isnt any blade play and the lockup is perfect, nice grinds, ill be the first to write them a glowing review in the forum. Im truly anxious to handle one of these things.

Of course you just KNOW that Tom reads all of our posts and says to himself: "Well, this Buck/Mayo is a nice knife for the $, but it aint no TNT!" :)

Well, I won't be getting one. A reliable source told me no left hand versions.

it seems to me that given the hole and the cutout in the frame lock, this knife would be nicely ambidextrous, no?

I was banned from USN for this very same following statement...we'll see how democratic this place is....

If that Buck is worth the $300msrp that it supposedly is going to cost, then my Kershaw KO Boa is either worth lots more then the little less the $100nib I paid for it a few months back...or...that Buck is way overpriced out of the gate.

I wouldn't trade my Boa even-up for 2 of those swisscheese lookin' things, and that's a fact...

UnclePhilthy,

IMO MSRP prices are purely fiction. Manufacturers make them up to give the Brick and Morters some profit, and to leave their impression with consumers they're product is quality based on the $$$.

As I said, IMO MSRP is pure fiction. (That got ya banned from USN huh? Clearly your just a troll. :p )

I have $225 pre-owned sebenza I bought a while back, so I think it will be an interesting comparison.

Having recently sold one of my "real" TnT's, I quickly ordered one of the Buck / Mayo collaborations. I'm excited about that one.

I would agree though that the Boa is a "sleeper". I guess I've had mine for a couple years now -- bought it when it first came out. I think it's great, and carry it often.

Here's my OTHER TnT, and Boa in a G2 custom sheath.
