Well there was ALOT more to a certain "statement" mentioned above but I'll leave it at that. ;)

I'm down for two Buck/Mayo knives.:D

That's one fine looking sheath Mike...I'm going to have to get in touch with Gary one of these days, and see if I can afford one for mine. I've come to be somewhat comfortable with the pocket-clip carry, but still prefer sheath-on-belt carry.

Thanks for the pics,

True enough....when Mr Mayo chose to shitcan my post regarding the smrp factor, and one reply that I had made to another forum member explaining why I had come to make my statement, I did kinda go off on him...I'm not a real good friend to political correctness, and I ****in' HATE censorship...and let him know that in real simple terms.

He stated himself...something to the effect that "this isn't bfc, and all posts like this are going in the trash bin" So much for free expression and exchange of info and thought.

I have nothing against Bucks..I've owned several 110's and 112's over the years, and found them all to be real good pieces for the 25 or so usd's they set me back. I just can't see the reality in the pricing of this particular piece, compared to others of even better quality.

Good deal, buy several if you wish...that won't make 'em any less overpriced.

Best Wishes,

I don't mean to be a jerk but isn't the MSRP of the Boa something like $185? Yes it's quite a bit less than $296 that the Mayo/Buck is going for, but you are comparing your street price for the Boa with the MSRP of the Buck. I don't really find that to be an apples/apples comparison.

Also, until the model is in the hands of reputable folks who can give us thorough review of the knives, we don't know what quality to really expect from Buck at this price point. It may be a good purchase, it may not be so great. Assuming that the quality of fit/finish and what-not will be comparable to their much cheaper models would be overly pessimistic. Is it somewhat of a gamble at the moment? I think so, but I won't dismiss the possibility that Buck can make something worth its price (street price) even at ~$200.

I think there are alot of challenges in coming out with a knife like this, the getting it made is the easy part. Consider:

The knives cost more than usual to manufacture, it could be the the cost per knife is not well known yet. Any they might find it too expensive to produce.

As a more traditional company, selling a $200 to customer not used to spending more than $30 or $40 is a challenge.

Because of the cost it would be a challenge for distributers and retailers to put these even in stock so people could see them. Do buck people buy in Brick and Morters or off the web?

It could be that they are trying to reach customers that never bought a Buck before. (Which includes me) They may have difficulty reaching the "Mayo - Sebenza" market segement.

It could be that they make these knives, and they sell pretty well, but the respose is not overwhelming, and they end up not making much profit.

Yes sir, you're correct about the msrp of the Boa...I luckily got mine from a dealer who was closing out a business, and moving to another city, and likely paid what the wholesale cost was...but even at 185, there's a lot of advantages my Boa has, that the new Buck does not.

Accepted and understood...the Buck will likely sell for much less than the 300 msrp, especially when the market gets filled.

Thanks for your input.

So for "people who don't understand" the best remedy rather then a rational discussion and possible enlightment, is to totally disregard and censor them? Bite Me!

Exactly what it's worth...
