Mayo TNT?

Until you have sat in Tom's shop and watched him make a knife in front of you, you really can't say for sure how he makes a dang knife. Well I sat there while he took a coupon of Talonite and two pieces of titanium and made me a knife. No CNC, no laser, no outside shop working on anything. He even turned the standoffs.

And from a picture, you really can't speak authoritatively on a knife, 'cause a picture can hide real bad flaws in construction and finish or it can make a perfectly great knife look bad.

So I guess my point is you can't complain about a guy's knife unless you have on in your hands right in front of you and you can't speculate how a guy makes knives unless you're sitting in his shop when he makes it for you.

Tom, see ya next week at the show!

Keep on assuming, and then totally miss the point of the post. . Good to see. The over reaction to this makes me wonder.
You bet!!!

In a situation as ridiculous as this, my assumption is a very safe one:D

This all boils down to one person who has no clue how Tom hand-makes each and every TNT finding it necessary to start a thread about "Laser marks" and how he found them unacceptable on a public forum instead of first posing the question to Tom. I am certain Tom would have made a genuine attempt to allay Hilton's concerns and correct any inaccurate impressions he had.

BUT NO!!!! start a thread here in the Custom forum and then expect no one to react to what is a ludicrous statement that a hand made TNT bears laser marks:rolleyes: And of course we are expected to what; agree with such silliness?

I will stand by my 'assumption'.

Let’s end this!

Too much is being “read into” posts which simply is not there to be read. My reference to laser cutting was leapt upon as being some sort of insult, whereas my actual point about finish was missed (hense my second comment). The betting men appear to have missed this.

I made an observation, never an accusation, there is a difference.

“db”, I don’t know you, but thank you for showing me that my use of English is not “that” bad!

Mr Mayo, I wish you no ill, and I’m sure you will do just fine in Atlanta, you appear to have a very loyal following.

Regards, HILTON

Your welcome. Your english is just fine, in fact it's better than some peoples here in the US.

Ok, I'm a little confused by the above statement. Are you accusing me of trolling or am I just not getting the right meaning from your statement above? When you addressed the statement to both myself and to Hilton and then used "his/your" when referring to who it is that you think is behaving as a troll, you have caused me to not be sure of who your comment was directed at.

I apologize, Mr. Montgomery - the statement was directed at HiltonP, not you.

I have no clue why I used the "his/your" in my post above.....I think I must have had a brain-fart at that precise moment.

Again, I apologize for the mix-up.

Back to the original thread topic.......

Sigh -- arguing with someone over the Errornet is truly futile.

The point *_still is_* and *_always has been_* that the initial remarks by HiltonP is incorrect, unsupported, and outright false, and that he has yet to retract such accusations.

This is not "reading into" words, this is simply reading the words as-posted.

It might have been your - however incorrect - "observation" to begin with, HiltonP, but after Mr. Mayo stepped forward to refute your claims and you stood your ground but failed to offer proper support for such, you -made- it an accusation.

Everyone has a right to their own opinion, and I respect yours, HiltonP, when you say that you find the overall finish and execution of Mr. Mayo's works are not up to your standards for pieces in this price-range. I disagree with that, but I respect that it is your opinion.

What I -and others- here are calling you out on is your initial assertion, which took a turn for the worse when you made it into an accusation of Mr. Mayo's integrity.

PS: And as for you English (language) snobs? Please note that I'm not a native speaker, either. And although my posts here may offer many errors for those who would choose to belittle me to pick apart, let's suffice it to say that I've *_always_* tested within the top 1% for both written and reading on any standardized test, including those at the graduate-level. I don't proof my leisure writing nor do I check my "ain't" and "y'all" when I speak to my friends. Let's not get into personal insults.

"I made an observation, never an accusation, there is a difference."

What do you call the Laser Cut comment, then? Was it an observation or an accusation?

It must be really difficult for you to simply say, "I was incorrect about the CNC assumption of my post, however I still feel the same about the finish."

See...not really so hard, is it.
