Mcusta mistake

It's Mcusta we're talking about, not Rockstead...

You seriously expect an entire company to change their vision due to a small change made to a production knife? You do realize that even bigger fish such as ZT and CRK have made changes in production without warning, right?

For example: ZT added replicable lockbar inserts to models that didn't originally have them, they also changed some models with M390 to CTS-204P. CRK added the (kinda ugly) "Idaho Made" stamp to many of their knives without any warning.

Times change and your expectations are unreasonable. This thread just gives Mcusta unnecessary bad press.

ok maybe i'm overreacting a little. i just want a little bit more care, it's not too much. they can easily avoid mistakes during the grinding process. it's not a big effort.

Ok, now I think you are just being a troll...

That's definitely not a grinding mistake it's a change to production. Please educate yourself on what is acceptable and what is considered a failure before you come here to badmouth a respectable brand.

If anything this thread is getting people interested in the brand if they didn't already know about it. I think they finally have a folder with a 4" blade.

maybe you're right maybe not, we'll see. somebody think that is production change, somebody think it's not normal.
i have not yet received a reply from Mcusta. everyone is on vacation.
and i'm not criticizing this company! i always recommend it for everybody because they are really good.

+1....

Misleading title is misleading. That said, my Tactility looks more like the top knife pictured.

Still, I fail to see the failure in the lower knife. Different maybe, but not broken.

Yes, and even if a knife gets broken it or the company are not immediately called failures.

Relax blues, you may be correct. But take a deep breath and do something productive with your knowledge. You almost stress me out sometimes.
Merry Xmas! :D

No stress on my end, just saying it how it is. The way I write may come across abrasive at times.

That said, I still fail to see the need to badmouth a company for something so petty.

Merry X-mas to you too my friend!

i did the right thing! consumer feedback can help for the companies to improve their quality.
btw i i've received a letter from Mcusta and it wasn't a production change.

Sorry for our late reply.
And we are very sorry about the wrong knife.
Actually we always inspect the products meticulously before the shipment.
And if we find the wrong one, we leave them out from the production line.
So, we have a confidence in our quality control.
But it seems like the one you have is not a perfect design.
So, if you need, we can replace with the new one.
Please let me know.
But as you said, if you keep that one, we respect your choice.
Anyway we will focus on inspecting the products and think about
improving our quality all the time.

Anyway thank you for having our MCUSTA products.

Best regards,

Tomohiro Hasegawa

Well there we have it. They seem nice and willing to help.
Trade out knives and later, change thread title from 'failure' to 'mistake - fixed'
Be happy and keep learning.

Take care.

That's very cool.

Btw, I still don't know how to pronounce their name. :D Is it "emcusta," "McUsta," "emcoosta," "McOosta," something else?

hudson078,
I just heard from Mcusta Seki. The grind has changed on that model so the Tactlity MC122D you purchased is authentic.
In fact I just ordered an MC-121D myself and it has the same blade grind as the lower knife in your photo.
Regards
Ken

ps- Yes it's "M" custa. The name comes from Machine Custom Knives.

And I bet a bunch of you guys thought I was just being a jerk;):p

I'll post a photo of mine when it arrives. Seems some contradictory info going around.
But at least it doesn't look like counterfeits.

Could working with pattern welded steel require them to slightly change the angles and depths of grinds from stock to stock for aesthetic reasons? I am seeing a lot more differences then were mentioned. Could this be a "slim" variation?
