Was looking into theese blades and was curious if anyone had any feedback on them? Not being able to put my hands on them I am not seeing a huge difference except for price. Spec wise they are very similar( except the S35vn steel vs D2). Now that the 187 can come with Ti scale and lock I’m not seeing any big reason to go with the MIDI over the 187.

If you have never owned a Medford Id go with the 187. Its crude, like the rest of Medfords offerings so it will give you a good idea as to what to expect from them in the future. When shopping in the same price range you could do much better than...crude...
You could pay 450k on a bare bones F350 with no paint,...or you could walk to the other dealership and pay the same for a fully loaded Hummer.

Interesting, I have a Medford On Belay and it's far from being "crude". The machining, fit, finish, action, etc. are all extremely well executed...easily on par with my Les George VECP and other mid-techs.

The Medford On Belay does seem to be one of there "sexier" and more well thought out options...but its still overbuilt and crude imho.

Yes, they're "overbuilt" but to call them "crude" is simply an inaccurate/uninformed statement.

Naw, I've owned 7 of them, they're crude.

Wow, you've owned 7???

I'm genuinely curious...why did you buy a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and finally...a 7th if you have such a low opinion of them?

I'm really happy that I apparently got so lucky with my 1st...:D

Maybe the word "crude" is a bit harsh depending on how you take it.
A bit primitive and simple....unfinished..
For example, I've been cut by the sharp edges left on my Medford Colonial

Now that we know that there knives are somewhat unrefined... Is there something that you would suggest in the same realm (style, beefiness, simple ,American made)?

Hinderer for one. Ive only had a few Medfords that didn't suffer from lock slip as well...not being able to take it apart or adjust the pivot is also another downside of MKT.

If you're looking for other large/robust titanium framelock recommendations, I'd recommend a Les George VECP or a Three Sisters Forge Beast or Gorgon.

Ignore him...

I've handled a ton of them and they aren't my style, but I wouldn't call them crude.

The same guy calling a Medford crude said he bought a Rockstead with a "cast" blade:rolleyes:

If you like Medfords style, go for it!

Any experience or opinion on the two that I mentioned in the title?

My opinion on those 2 is that the 187 doesn't have the greatest flipping action out there and the flipper tab is a bit awkward.

The Midi is a decent knife, but aesthetically I'd prefer a micro praetorian if I were in the market for a Medford.

I'd go midi over 187.

Very nice.. Although they just seem kind of blah. They kind of seem like a plain titanium flipper that everyone is making, without the flipper obviously. Thank you for the suggestions though
