Medford 187DP or Midi Marauder

I wish you would stop taking my post out of context and twisting the words to suit you. I never said my Rockstead had a cast blade.
Put me on your ignore list already and get out of the port-a-poty before your foreman catches you piddling with your flipper again.

First off, you did say that your Ryo had a cast blade, so don't try to cover your steps.

And two, I'm above any foreman and manage entire projects.

Don't take your own BS personal if you can't follow through with it...

Very nice.. Although they just seem kind of blah. They kind of seem like a plain titanium flipper that everyone is making, without the flipper obviously. Thank you for the suggestions though

I understand, there's nothing flashy about them but (similar to a plain Sebenza) their appeal is the quality and care that goes into their construction. Once you handle one (especially the Les George VECP), you'll see/experience what I'm referring to.

No I quickly erased my reply thinking better of it. Your obviously antagonizing and bullying and trying to start a fight again....And your right, in a fit of rage I did wrongfully assume my Rocksted blade was cast because it had what appeared to have casting line.

I'm simply explaining your known presence on this forum for stating things that aren't true. If that's what you consider bullying then maybe you need a participation trophy just for posting in this thread:rolleyes:

Trust me, you have a "known presence" here as well:poop: and I have a trophy for you.;)

Medford tends to over look that the blade tang or the area that contacts the lock bar extends past the handle on many models when closed. I believe the marauder series and on belay are like this.

The handle should be designed to extend further above the pivot. You also can't take them apart.

I have a little bit of respect for the guy. He stays true to himself.

But I know better than to purchase one of his knives until they are further refined.

Many people can CNC or grind a blade. But that doesn't mean they know how to design a knife.

...... he did admit to one of his knives being designed by an 8 year old.:D
Greg seems like a good guy though.
When it comes to overbuilt knives, Greg did just that and I for one wanted an overbuilt knife...heck, I've tried 7 of them now. But what I've come to realize is that there are "overbuilt" and there is "ridiculously overbuilt". IMO Medford has crossed the line (ever so slightly) into the "ridiculously overbuilt" category.
I think there is fine balance of this and Hinderer has gotten as close to "overbuilt" without "pulling down your pants with every step overbuilt"

True. I carry an XM for that reason. Just enough beef .

Greg is still early in his knife making career and over the next few years his knives should be on par with the top names.

At which point I will finally buy one. Bed time :)

I’d go the Slim Midi over the 187 or Midi. It’s thin [.41], has a good clip, and sharp S35 blade. It’s smooth enough you can use your thumb to open [the blades not going to fly out], no lock stick, just a sturdy compact knife. Overbuilt, yes. Crude, no.

I was actually looking into those as well. That might actually be the direction I am heading because of the S35VN blade. With a kind of in the middle pricepoint between the 2 I listed.

Perfect, and a great suggestion. Just as BellaBlades said, Greg is still in that early stage of things...I think the Slim Midi is a perfect example of Greg listening to his customers feedback. Id just about guarantee he will eventually change his pivot allowing the consumer to adjust and take apart there knives...probably see a steel lock-bar insert soon as well..
And who knows...maybe he'll make a whole line of $90 bottle opener backspacers for his Praetorians (joking)

I'd go for the 187, once you get through the break in period they are a very nice knife. Mine was smooth as a baby's bottom, very well built, and I love how chunky they are.

Just be aware that if you need warranty help the customer service sucks and is entirely reliant on how Greg is feeling at the time.

Resale is very poor.

And the shallow hollow grinds make for a fragile tip and poor cutting performance if you need to cut through sheets of stuff.

Yeah, my experience with warranty work wasn't "all that" either.....kinda went like this....

Wow, what a review!
I noticed not only your blade was crooked when opened but your stop pin seemed to be off kilter as well...

I had a similar problem with another Medford I bought.....see if you can spot the warpage and stop pin crookedness...Crude
