Medford knives criticism

Wow, eleven pages of stuff about a knife brand, and it isn't the "other" polarizing brand that uses chisel grinds that don't cut right...LOL. I for one have two Medfords, a Praetorian G (D2) and an OnBelay (S35VN), I wouldn't compare their cutting performance to others because that is just silly. What I will compare is the quality of workmanship that went into them. I would stack them up against my Olamic, CRK's, Hinderers etc. for fit and finish any day. And I challenge anyone to really compare the price of a CRK to the price of a Medford based on materials, S35vn vs D2 isn't truly enough of a jump in steel choice to justify the prices of either, especially given the number of knives on the market for less with better steels. I paid the price for both brands because of my perceived quality of build.

All that said, I carry and use my Medfords in my knife rotation, but I also always have on me a LM Surge, a Vic Pioneer-x and a fully serrated Spyderco, and an alox minichamp on my keys, so, IF, I don't think the Medford will do the job, I have other choices available.

We should all agree that this is just another brand of knife that you either like or don't and leave it at that. Just my $.02

Well said!

I like to use flimsy stanley utility knife at work that cuts paper sheets and cardboard boxes like laser but practically is dull from the edge. Why?

I don't understand you "thin cuts better in some cases" people. It's obvious that thicker is better. Even air shows that.

Think about it, everyone knows that this passes through the air:

. . . just as well as this:

At roughly the same width at that! :D

Serious question, do you mind taking some pictures/video of your Medford cutting up some apples, potatoes and a few slices of cheese? Let us know how it compares to something like a Spyderco Paramilitary 2 or Military.

I already relayed how a co-worker at the lab (guy from France) forgot his grandfather's knife one day, and used my Marauder to cut up his apple in the lunchroom.
I said it did not cut it so well as the thinner knife he normally used, because the Marauder is insanely thick (1/4" stock).

The guy thought it was a neat knife (never seen a frame-lock before), and was able to eat his apple, but the sections did not look as pretty as when he normally cut it with his knife.

When cutting things, some things are easily cut with whatever knife I have on me (Spyderco, Medford, Victorinox, whatever). Other things are more efficiently cut with a specific knife. Or scissors. Or a saw.
When the thing to be cut is better done with a specific tool, and I have access to the choice of tools, then I usually match the cutting task to the tool.

It isn't rocket science, nor am I on a crusade for (or against) a specific type or brand of knife.
I just cut things when they need to be cut with something that will cut them.
Simple or complicated as that.

Now back to your regularly scheduled bickering. ;)

Guess it ages about the same as the people who pretend things like thick knives don't give up cutting performance. The outright denial is a joke, keep defending tho!

I thought bringing up things not said in this thread wasn't a good thing?
Pretty sure you said that...

No one in this thread said that thicker cut better. No one, other than you when being sarcastic.
All that was said was that certain knives were able to be used as knives, which is true enough.

It was said they cut well, fact is they don't in comparison to many many other knives. Your usual parading around your escapades on camp island where you hack up lives trees proves absolutely nothing about the cutting performance of a medford.

Funny though.

They cut extremely well during escapades.
