The name got me to expect something completely different.... can't see any puukko influence in that knife.
It's a nice looking design with loads of nice details in it though.
What's in a name? ;)

I agree that this is not a puuko. Still a nice looking knife though. Realsteel is producing some great stuff.

Fine looking knife in a good steel.

As others have pointed out there is something of with the naming here, another misuse of the word puukko I guess.

Looks better in person than it does in the sales photos. I'm glad to see that the secondary bevel is the same, even when the primary bevel changes. That should help keep it from snagging at that transition.

Didn't know that Ostap Hel designed this one, either. That would have made me less doubtful from the beginning.

That means I need to do some research into Real Steel, so I finally have something to pass the time at work, tonight! :p

I noticed on the Realsteel and various other websites this knife is available with 2 different grinds and flippers.
One as show above with the duplex grind, comes with a normal flipper.
Then there's also one with a scandi grind and a front flipper, making it more 'puukko-ish' as far as the blade portion of the knife is looked at.

I originally tought real steel only made budget folders but i gotta say i think this model looks fantastic!

Also what kind of pivot is it on, phosphor bronze washers or ball bearing. I cant seem to find that information anywhere

I took pics #6 and #7 from True Liberty's original post, and magnified them to %300, which is all the further my zoom add-on will go.

It looks like they are washers, but not PB. Some kind of dark grey or dark blue material, although that could be the light.

A few videos show the knife snapping out with the speed of a bearing pivot, so either I'm wrong (which is likely), or they are nicely tuned pivots.

I'm going to say washers, until somebody does a teardown, and proves me wrong.

I think anybody who gets a knife that's new to the community really has a responsibility to take a day off from work when it arrives, take the knife apart, show us all the gory details of it's insides, and do some edge-retention tests so we can answer all our questions at once. ;)

I guess the first 2/3 of the blade look kinda puukko-ish in profile, if you discount the absence of the scandi grind.
Maybe it's contemporary-Finnish-fusion knife design.
Or something.
Whatever it is, I look the looks of it.
Alas, another knife & knife company to investigate, now...

I agree it looks real nice and the price is VERY reasonable.

To the OP, how about a little review? How's the fit and finish? Action? Lockup?
