Not that I've ever done any business with him. But his posts are fun, and sometimes really outrageous.

He's just too obvious to be underhanded, so: if I ever see him selling anything I want, I'll buy it :D

Mel sure ain't no troll. I would do business with him anytime. I have only bought some knife books from Mel, but he was great to deal with.

Dan, if you are going to come on GB&U and post a link to a site that has knives for sale and you have not paid for a membership that lets you sell knives on Bladeforums, you are going to get some flack. Trying to figure out a way to get around buying a Gold membership for selling knives is not going to make you very popular with the powers that be around here. Mel just pointed out the folly of your ways.

How good is he?

Well, I once gave away a sale to him after I already got a comittment from the seller just because Mel is such a nice guy. You have to be good for me to do that. :D

Mel is a shy, quiet, self-effacing teenager with a great imagination and a dream of growing up to save the world ! We should encourage him, and buy the books he scavenges from the library sales he haunts so diligently !!

And his vocabulary is constantly improving ...

(Dan GSR, trolls are sneaky. Mel is upfront. Get a membership or trade for new knives.)

Well good morning guys, and thanks for the laugh! :D

Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got coffee to clean off the monitor...

Mel

For the truly confused, this is what 'started it all'...

Anyhoo, no hard feelings towards Dan, just a head scratching "WTF over?", and thanks for all the kind words guys...I'm feeling all warm and fuzzy now... ;)

I am in complete agreement with the astute observation above concerning Mel's literacy, high ideals and in particular the self-effacement that he continually exhibits in his communications here. Hopefully with the passage of time and much effort he will be able to overcome this characteristic and be more forthcoming with his opinions so that we will know what he really thinks. It should be noted also that when he is able to occasionally break through and communicate on subjects such as this he is always exquisitely even-handed.:D

:barf: Ah-h-h, Mel sucks! Hey, how ya' doin' Sherm? ;) I knew Sherm way back when...well, you don't want to know. You've come a long way baby! :p

Not only a total troll, but he spells funny too! That and he has this silly fixation on knives with LEATHER HANDLES instead of them black ones! Only Big Holes and black handles, Mr. Purvis!

Hell, I hope he IS a troll, otherwise he is just too easy to deal with, buying, selling, trading, whatever.

Mel, you sure that was coffee on the monitor and not a wee bit o' Bacardi's Finest Dark Curative?

Parker

Jesus Gene, the only people that still call me 'Sherm' are you and my mom...and she still doesn't get my name right...

Hell, on Mother's Day I took her flowers and gifts...she looked at me and said, "You look familiar, do I know you?"...lol

(What do you two know that I don't know? She kept asking how my sister was doing...do I have a sister?)

And as for you Mistah Parkah, I've seen your posts over at TFC, I can't believe that you're gonna let the 'Merry Prankster's' over at MDK make a 'hard use' pistola outta that SA 1911 I sold ya....have you no decency? :D

(Parker and I have had more 'under the radar' knife and gun trades than anyone else I've dealt with here...period. If I could ever give my 'Mel's stamp of approval' to anyone here, it would be him. This guy is soul!)

As for the rest of you, yeah, I'm pretty much an open book...what you see is what you get. My word, it's all I've got.

Thanks for the kind words my friends. God bless, and all the best! :)

Mel

p.s. Mistah Parkah, it's Bacardi Dark from Sunset to Sunrise, Black coffee from Sunrise to Sunset...hope that helps answer your question... ;)

There are those individuals you might want to do a little research on before doing business.

THEN, there are those to whom you'd send out a $500.00 knife or check and never think twice. Mel is in the second category. Your character does show through in your threads. Mel's character is tops. And he's funny as hell too. A little aside, Esav falls in the same category. Thanks guys!
