well i invite you to houston texas where my company just relocated me, and lets see how that conversation will go.

Wow- I never thought I would ACTUALLY see a "Fight me IRL" post on a forum- always thought it was a joke. This day is special- I'm getting a beer with lunch.

Notice that title. Individuals are not required to match any one elses price point be it commercial or private sale and to imply that is downright foolish.
This thread does bring up a viable point. I sell knives here. Not a lot but some. My membership level allows me to do that. I know what I paid for them and I know what they are worth. As days go by my listing will move farther back to page two, then page three, then page four, etc. Get 7 or 8 knives listed at the same time and as they move back I constantly have to log in and search through. Now if a buyer makes a post then I get a notice. I log on, look up and Viola' here's a reply:
These are listed on Blade Auction.com for $ X, just sayin."

Not only is Mr Helpful informing the public the implication that I am an overpriced ogre he also gives any potential buyer a Commercial website which undersells my listing. Hey, Thanks so much. Sale Destroyed.

And that among many is the point of these forum rules. I for one am glad the moderators monitor this and all forums. Imagine going to a yard sale, walking around picking up items and declaring each time-
"This is cheaper down the street." After a bit you might be asked to leave, Hmmm?
Well, thats what just happened. :D

You make a very good point Greykilt. This is probably a bit of an opportunity to show why that rule exists in the first place. It's sad that some people need that spelled out (in big friendly letters, with crayon). I think what we saw was another case of someone treating internet interactions as a computer game, as if it's some imaginary world which exists for his own narcissistic pleasure. For the now banned member's benefit (since he will be reading this as a guest) the internet isn't a place, it is nothing more or less than a means of communication between real people. In this case it's real people doing business. A bit of respect goes a long way and a little common decency is generally a requirement of civilized society.

Here is the banter and your post Sir (Kimchii) does indeed interfere with the Sale.
In fact its just downright rude.
Further indication that you will be missed by so many here.

I'm regretfully selling......
.......1. Todd Begg Beggattii I bought this knife New from Blade HQ 6 month ago. Knife is absolutely perfect in every way. The only mark is where the lock touches the blade when opened. This is normal. Check pictures below. Descriptipn of the knife is taken from blade hq.
The Beggatti flipper is a mammoth version of Todd Begg's Bodega folder. It features 1/4 inch thick titanium handles and stainless steel blade. This one has a two-tone handle with satin machined grip texture and anodized accents. The blade is bead blasted and stonewash finished. Action is smooth with the IKBS pivot. Like the Bodega, the Beggatti features a replaceable lockbar with stop tab milled in to the lock and handle. The pocket clip features a ball bearing at the tip, a nice touch that is practical as well.
Overall Length: 8.875"
Blade Length: 3.75"
Blade Thickness: 0.25"
Blade Grind: Hollow Edge
Type: Plain Handle Length: 5.125"
Handle Thickness: 0.76"
Material: Titanium
Weight: 9.73 oz.
Pocket Clip: Right Hand, Tip-Up
price was 2125.00 NOW 1850.00/COLOR]

you can buy that exact beggattii straight from the begg bros for $1800 right now.. ur mark up seems a little stiff

This is nothing more than commentary which is not allowed.(See Post #1, this thread)

I dont think this is the post in question, but if you continue to read this post, the seller actually lowered the price because he pointed that out. I dont see how that is rude at all.

It doesn't get any more explanative..... not only was it rude, it was poor form and just crude manners overall.

The Rules said:
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/announcement.php?f=699&a=98

Do not post in a person's thread unless you have an implicit interest in buying the item. Posts like, "Nice knife!", "Why is the price so high/low?", "I wish I had funds" are not allowed. This means absolutely no commentary or feedback in someone's sales thread. Seriously, if you stomp on someone's ad, your account can and will be locked. The only exception to this is in the Knife Makers Market areas (if the maker/craftsman requests and welcomes feedback)

You made your own point.
To Highlight the rules quote from Karda:

Ad Stomping

Commentary posted with the intent to intice a seller to lower his asking price is just wrong. You see it but you dont have to buy it. Nothing informs a seller that his product is priced too high any better than a lack of sale. You post on Monday and a week later your listing is on page 6, Hello, message received. Blade Forum Merchandising 101.
Hint: PM.

Lol, that went quickly. A thank you to the mods, I wouldn't have the patience to deal with such "special" people everyday.
Excuse me now while I go cry myself to sleep because I haven't made it as far as our friend

This is all very discouraging in being a part of this forum. Not what was said that started this discussion, but how this community treats people. I understand this person said something to begin this discussion. But it is just sad how people handle it pretty much begging him ffor a reaction. Seems like a lot of long time members think very highly of themselves, and this is why I will never pay to be apart of this forum. I do just fine contacting members for sales, and that's all I will ever need out of this pretentious forum.

wow, thats almost some great advice chris. maybe people on a knife forum may be taking their virtual life just a little too serious. a troll huh, well i invite you to houston texas where my company just relocated me, and lets see how that conversation will go. no where to hide is amusing. i am not a person who lets someone speak to me as if they are superior for having some sort of policing power on a forum. and what is this trouble you speak of? oh my god a restricted account?!?! or worse... banned from a forum?!? unlike yourself the thought of either of those things happening to me, well i guess you could say zero fucks would be given. at this point it is just humorous to see people like yourself get all worked up over this. the mod that originally corrected me is a fool for not being able to properly explain what was done wrong. and you chris are an australian twat who thinks call people trolls is a forum civic duty. the best part in being successful is i dont have to adjust my attitude for virtual keyboard warriors.

I believe this is the reason for people jumping on him.

Like kimchii, if you don't like it here, the door swings open both ways. You make it pretty obvious
that this pretentious forum has no real need for your attitude either.

What happened wasn't pretentious. Kimchii stomped someones sales thread, which was incredibly rude and affected a person's business transaction. That was completely lacking in courtesy. It also happened to be breaking a forum rule. He was called out on the breach and rather than swallow his pride and say sorry he went out of his way to be obnoxious to the Mods. Some of us have got to know these guys over the years, have chatted with them and actually like the people sitting behind the keyboards. I for one don't like people being obnoxious to people I like, so I decided to call kimchii on his bad behaviour. It's unfortunate that he made the choices he did. A lot of us have said something here that's got us spanked in one way or another. It's not really a big deal. The way I see it he had a lot of opportunities to avoid what happened.

Everyone here is a real person with real lives, real jobs, real families. BladeForums is just how we talk to each other and in some cases it's how we do business. For some of us, it's how we talk with friends on the other side of the world. As long as people are courteous and respectful we all get along and business is good. If you like knives, or anything else discussed here, why don't you stick around and get involved? I'm certainly not begging you to stay but you've got nothing to lose and you might learn some new stuff and get to know some people you like.

Fine...do whatever makes you happy. The lesson here is don't screw around in the Exchange. If you do, you will get zapped. We want business to be conducted here without harassment. kimchii broke a clearly spelled out rule and then proceeded to act like a dick. Nobody is going to beg you to "pay" to be apart of this forum. People "pay" to conduct business here. Lurk around all you want.

lol!!!!!!

As one of the Exchange moderators, I do not see anything pretentious about taking care of our paid members by keeping their sales ads free of inpertinent comments and on track. I was not involved in the kimchii drama, but I can tell you that we work very hard to be fair and accomodating to just about anyone regardless of being a paid member or not. If you don't believe that, ask around.

Being a Grade A asshole will surely not win anyone over as we can see b the nature of what happened here. As mentioned, this forum is not mandatory by any means, it is free and always has been for people to read, share, learn, and teach as well. If that somehow is overshadowed by the behavior of one person, and their self righteous, sanctimonious "say it to my face" crusade, then it is clear what you must do. The rules are there for a reason, written in plain English, and not hidden away. Clearly this place is not big enough to contain the ego of some people, and they feel that they must go out in a blaze of inglory. I always find it hilarious when people that claim to be super professional, top of their field, highly paid, influential, etc have a complete behavioral meltdown for something minor because they somehow feel special and entitled. Oh well.

Then my friendly advice to you is:
Don't complain about the posts and actions of those of us who do. Hmmm?
Want to know what its like to be a Girl Scout? Become a Girl Scout. But to stand outside the Girl Scout meeting hall and complain about the way they conduct their meetings solely on the grounds that you bought a box of cookies is absurd....:highly_amused:
