Hi Everyone,

I had posted a topic yesterday and deleted it. I thought maybe he came to his senses but doesn't look like that is the case. Here is the story.

On Thursday June 4 I purchased a Koch Solo 2.0 from member rmmccutcheon. He said he would send me the tracking number as soon as he gets it. Weekend goes by no word from him but I do see him logging in to the forum. Sent an email asking him when the Solo would be shipped. Hear nothing from him. Sent him another and no response. Yesterday June 9, I posted I complaint here explaining everything. 5 min after I get an email saying it's shipped. No tracking no nothing. I ask him for a tracking number again he goes silent. He said he couldn't contact me since his phone cracked. I'm a nice guy so gave him the benefit of the doubt and deleted the topic. No word from him again and he has logged into the forums.

I am a nice guy and was hesitant since he didn't have any feedback but figured everyone is new at some point and with paypal if something goes wrong they would reimburse. So I decided to purchase it. I have been patient and friendly with him but his lack of communication is frustrating. I am an easy going guy and if he would of just emailed me and kept me in the loop I would of said no problem. Stuff happens. I will not be taking this down until he provides me with tracking info and the solo 2.0 is in my hands. Warning to others since he messaged a few people about purchasing some knives. Don't deal with him until this situation is rectified. I will be escalating my claim tomorrow with Paypal. I was looking forward getting a solo 2.0 but doesn't look like I am getting one. I refuse to let one member leave a sour taste in my mouth. I have had many great transactions on here. Cheers Marty.

Funny how every time I post something in this forum I get an email right after.

He replied I don't have a tracking number.

All shipment from US to Canada has a tracking number. Will file with Paypal tomorrow.

Maybe I am wrong on this, but I can ship to the US from Canada without tracking, I would think it would work the other way but I could be wrong.

Did you ask him which service he used?

Anyway, this will work out for you one way or another, and that's the main thing + I appreciate you helping me add to my list of people who just don't seem to get it.

Good luck, and thanks.

I was told that all shipping from USPS comes with a tracking to Canada.

I specifically told him to ship with tracking so there is no questioning that it's been shipped.

Not all. Can go two ways .... First Class International (cheapest and does not automatically include tracking), or Priority International (more expensive, but includes tracking in the shipping cost).

The the package was sent First Class and not Priority Mail, there the tracking number is optional. Priority mail automatically includes it now, along with $50 of insurance for the basic flat rate boxes. Based on the OP and limited info provided, it sounds like the seller exhibited poor form and doesn't know how things should be done to protect himself. Shame really because there is literally a truckload of information in the sticky sections above this very forum. Not to mention asking a moderator, start a thread asking questions,. Common sense fail is what this might be. A simple picture of the receipt showing the package was shipped will include all the information necessary to show proof of shipping, tracking or not. Most of the problems posted here are preventable 100% by just not being lazy and doing things the right way. Sorry to say it, but it needs to be said.

Over $55 I would just wait 3 weeks before bashing the guy. But I've been pissed about items getting lost in the mail that cost $20 cause the seller sent some knucks in a envelope, untaped, with one stamp. Was just the principle of it all. Very poor shipping technic.

Sellers do stupid things sometimes so more than likely it's on it's way without the tracking. Have had sellers send things without tracking before. Usually arrives. Soemtimes not. I personally would just wait 3 weeks and see what happens and just not do business with them again if you are not satisfied. But it's up to you.

I'd feel better about the whole thing if the seller would pop in on this thread and at least chime in. He knows about this thread and his silence isn't helping his reputation at all. As a sort of newbie myself, I know that establishing a good reputation on the exchange is extremely important if you want to buy and sell. It's just common sense. I do appreciate these GBU threads.

I asked him to supply a picture of the receipt.

I agree that it's probably a newb mistake. Hopefully it's coming and all is well. I even went very specific before buying since he was new. And providing shipping was one of them. The amount of the purchase is irrelevant. It's the principal that I tried to help him out my explaining to him how it's done on here and he didn't listen to anything and ignored me for days. That is the reason I am frustrated but I won't let this bother me too much. I'm protected with PayPal. Just thought others should know since I wouldn't want it to happen to someone else. But in the end I hope it's an honest mistake and I can just close this.

Quoted for posterity. Next time don't delete your posts. It makes you look bad. I read what you wrote, went back to check if anything came of it and it was gone. No one could even have checked who this member was. You deleted the evidence.

Now, if I remember correctly from your first post you used paypal goods right? So you should be covered if he doesn't follow through.

Why would it make me look bad. He said he was going to provide me the shipping info so I gave him the benefit of the doubt and deleted everything. I'm not trying to give bad feedback if it's not warranted. That info never came. So I reposted it. I told him too if he doesn't provide shipping info in the next 24 hours I would post it again.

I always pay PayPal goods.

Rarely is it a good thing when someone deletes their entire text in a thread. It happens for many reasons. Wanting to hide something. Having a full meltdown. Withdrawing an item for sale... etc... And what if I was about to do a deal with this guy so I go do a search on him but 5 minutes before you deleted a possible red flag thread. That hurts your fellow members. I would argue it is better to let it stand and post to add that everything worked out. I mean you said it yourself. He emails you every time you post here. That is a big read flag for me and many other members here.

You are relatively new here and have not participated a great deal outside of buying, selling, and trading. Spend some time in other areas of the forum and you will see that when this happens it is usually bad.

Glad you use paypal goods.

As ALWAYS, the Rev. is 100% correct. Another point is often Mods will help without publicly calling someone out. If, for example he has not shipped the knife, he is likely now not to do it as he has already taken a hit in public opinion anyway. That is also why it's best to use a little honey when you are trying to get what you have coming. I totally understand your situation, but an upset guy who has already made at least what appears to be a decision not to respond here, can certainly take cover and be hard to reach. Having open conversations, often lead by a caring Mod., may solve your situation. I have also found shipping to Canada can take weeks longer, however he still should have provided proof of shipment. When I ship, I ALWAYS get a receipt from the Post Office, never just laying the prepaid package on the counter as many customers do. Yes I have to wait in line longer, but the Post Office and the customer can not say I did not ship it. This may be the case here, if he just dropped it in a box or on the counter, he would have no proof of actual shipment. A tracking number proves nothing, until it is entered into the system. Most produce their own labels and can provide a number within mins. of a sale, but that does not mean a shipment actually went. I once had a member provide a number very fast and the shipment was late, only to find he was using the same number to various members. Good luck.

Correct, If it was shipped it has tracking

Please understand what I am saying, not to argue, BUT only a receipt from the Post Office proves a shipment was made. The tracking number is generated upon creating a label. That package could set on a desk for days, or a crooked person could provide an incorrect tracking number to various customers. Only the receipt from the Post Office or computer tracking showing movement proves shipment. That is why it pays to stand in line until you get a shipping receipt. Try filing a USPS claim without a receipt and only a tracking number, they WILL NOT honor the claim, as a fact. Dropping packages off at street boxes, or hotel desk, etc. are a major error. And it does happen.

IN case anyone is wondering too, selling on the forums as a registered user can earn you an infraction. It appears that tmmccutcheon is not a Gold member or anything close. So we have that to contend with as well. Very interesting.

Good grief. How did you buy from him OP? Couldn't have been in a sales thread here. Was it on another site? I'd start a PP claim today. No wonder no repsonse from him since doing shady dealings here. The guy deserves whatever is coming to him just from selling without GM.
