Memorial Scout Knife Giveaway - New Knives Added!

There is some amazing generosity on this forum. I'm not quite ready to announce all of it, but this Giveaway has really inspired some generosity from other forumites and the cutlery industry!

So please enter. Make your nominations, and enter for yourself. I will update soon.

Great news! In that case, I'll throw my name in the hat as well.

A moving story about your kid brother, abbydaddy. I'm glad he was "clean" when he left us!!
I don't usually enter giveaways, but I will enter as a memorial to your brother!!
At the knife shows I go to, only 3 or so per year, I bring a cigar box or a cloth bag with knives in it, for kids who show up and are interested in knives! If I win I will hand it out at the Oregon show to a fledgling collector!

If you do that I will see you there ;)

Sorry for your loss, and great idea for a giveaway.
My oldest brother recently got over some stuff, and I think it's for good.
I'm in.
I would like to enter this on behalf of my 15 year old cousin.
He's in FFA so he could use a good knife, and recently got out of the hospital after an almost fatal illness that turned out to be type 1 diabetes.
Luckily they got some help with the very expensive medical bills.
I think he could use a decent American made slipjont, especially something like this.

Lost a lot of unreplaceable things, but my Knives still bother me. I was in high school. I guess I’d also like to nominate this rough and tumble character, he’s gonna need a good knife in a few years, and I figure a Cub Scout would work great. Yeah, he’s really that cute 90%+ of the time.
Thanks, Neal

I'm in. If won, the scout knife would be given to a young Scout named Cody. He goes to church with us (12 years old, same age as my boy). I believe Cody has a pretty rough life. He comes with his grandmother. Home life is not super. (I'd have to get permission from his grandmother).

Usually I go down to the local troops Christmas Tree lot and give away a couple knives in December. I didn't get to do that this year, but I did give one Scout knife away to a visiting friend, currently a US Army CSM. She fell in love with a Tuna Valley Scout I had and talked me out of it. With the demise of Queen I'm going to be hard put to replace that one.

Still, I have a (very) young boy who can use a nice knife. His dad will have to hold it for a couple years, but that's OK. Better they grow into the idea.

Good give away!

Look what arrived today! Jon, can't thank you enough. When the other two arrive I'll set up their delivery. I wanted to take it out of the package and fondle it but the first fingerprints are not mine to leave...

Glad to see it got to you. They are good looking knives :)

I think I will let the kids portion of this GAW run for another couple days. I am still waiting on some stuff for the grownup part of the GAW. So please keep entering everyone.

So a pretty amazing thing happened. WR Case and Sons Cutlery was told about my giveaway, and they reached out to me to offer to give me some Boy Scouts of America Case knives!:eek::eek:

I was absolutely floored. I honestly had a hard time believing that it was really Case Cutlery getting in touch with me at first. But the knives showed up today, and they are lovely. Case sent me 4 Red Bone BSA Half Whittlers. I won't be giving them all away this year, since I plan to give some away next year too. I will also be giving one to my dad when he comes to visit for the Super Bowl, because I know he will be moved (Football was always something that we all enjoyed watching together, and the timing is perfect for this giveaway).

I miss my brother terribly, but I am humbled and thankful again and again at the way that this giveaway has engendered generosity from this community and now from the cutlery industry itself. I am thankful that I got to know my brother while he was here. And I am thankful tot he generosity of this community. And I am very thankful today to the generosity of WR Case and Sons.

In years past I have said that I would have liked to give away Case scout knives, but couldn't afford it. Well this year, Case made it possible for me to do it. :)

So I am hoping that the opportunity for a Case Half Whittler gets more people excited to enter for themselves. I am wrapping up the kids giveaway today. I will close the giveaway for the Case Half Whittlers next Sunday.

That's so cool; generosity abounds!

I might as well throw in an entry for one of these half whittler's.
One because of your generosity, one for the generosity of case, because it's a pattern I'd like to try, and because my dad and uncle were both in the scouts and would love to receive this if it doesn't click with me.

OK, for the kids portion of the GAW (the Bear and Son Cub Scout Knife) I made a list of everyone who entered on behalf of a kid, and then did a random number generator for those 7 entries. The winner was...

eisman eisman !

So go ahead and pm your shipping address and I will get that knife off to you.

For everybody else, there is still time to enter for yourselves. I will close the Case Half Whittler portion on Sunday.

Good luck everyone.
