I am up against alot, maybe people with college degrees, please wish me luck this would be amazing if I got accepted!!!!!!!!!

I visited the Memphis Metal Museum back in the day and participated in their "fix it" workshop and fundraiser. I'm thinking it was the fall of 1998. It was a really great weekend!

I was completely impressed by the facilities and all of the great people. I would love to turn back the clock and get an apprenticeship there. What a good time that would be!

Best of luck -- I can't think of a more deserving candidate. That said -- we'll miss you if you disappear down South for two years.

La, I hear it is a very cool place from a few people, looks it! thanks!

Thanks Dan, it is a big step, i'm quite nervous, Memphis is far and 2 years is a long time! but it would be very good for me, think of all the skills i'll bring back to show everyone!

Sam,
Although Memphis is not what it used to be, my bet is that you never move back north after 2 years here. There are a lot of nice outlying areas, and the museum is great. It's right on the Mississippi. Good luck.

BTW- I can tell you where everything is in Memphis. Lived here all my life.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya, Sam:thumbup: Sounds like that would be an amazing opportunity.

I agree with Bill.

Once Sam looses his white legs, meets Memphis women,...and finds out there are more than two seasons - Winter and July , He will never go back up to New England, except to attend Ashokan.

Good luck, Sam. If you want a letter of recommendation, I bet there are quite a few here who would do that. I would.

I moved from Memphis when I was 13. I go back once every year or two to see family. As said before Memphis ain't what it used to be and In my opinion Memphis proper ain't no place to raise a family. But the areas surrounding Memphis can be very nice. Lots to see and do. From thew map shown in the link, you'll be right on top of the Memphis in May festivities. Some of the finest BBQ in the world there. It'll take a while to understand the southern speech and even longer for the ethnic variations, just remember they will be struggleing with your accent too. The southern accent has been deemed by some to be the most infectious in the world. You'll develope it with out realizing it and be teased forever by your New England contacts for it.
Good Luck with the selection process. When you get it, I'll have to look you up the next time I'm down there.
