Mesed up my BRKT Grasso II

Next?

Go custom with a reputable maker; Bryan Breeden, Dave Beck, Scott Gossman ect.
Again, price paid for that BRKT abomination, you could get a fully hand made, extreamly durable tool with impeccable quality control.

I had a custom chopper (NOT BRKT) develop some rolls during my first use of it, and I was furious until someone explained it was just a smidge too thin in those areas. After going back and sharpening it down a bit, never saw another issue out of it again (even against a horribly placed cinder block) and have since found that it is one of the most indestructible knives I own. Of course, mine didn't require me to lose .125" off the edge as some people are saying might happen with yours OP, but ultimately since it rolled and didn't chip, your knife should be fine if you just want to sharpen it yourself.

Hmm... those measurements seem a bit off to me... How far back from the apex was the 0.013" measurement taken?

The dents look MUCH deeper in the pictures, at least 1/16" which is ~0.063". 0.011" is so shallow that it would be barely visible without magnification...
Also, if the depth is only 0.011" and the thickness behind the dents is 0.025, then the edge-angle is >45 degrees per side, i.e. 90-degrees inclusive at the apex
I do not believe that.

When measuring edge-thickness on a scandi- or full-convex grind, pinch the blade ~1/16" back from the apex as this is a common edge-bevel width on other knives/machetes/etc. Pinch the blade 0.06" back from the apex. On the Survive! Knives GSO-10, the thickness here (at the bevel shoulder) is ~0.050" which means that the edge-angle is 45-50 degrees inclusive, VERY robust. I would be VERY surprised if BRKT left their edges at a higher angle...

Anyway, I hope that everything works out with the warranty!

Yes, recalculating the figures one more time shows that there's something not right with the 0.011 measurement.
I lost a digit when transfer to the metric system and assumed they where 0.11 and the thickness at that height still was 0.025.
The figures on my Scagel should be 0.0374 thickness at the depht of 0.11.

If this is what the OP meant the figures makes sense, otherwise not.

ya i sent my a2 gunny for a regrind and polish because it was my first convex knife and i ruined the edge, but in return i have almost no belly on it which is ok i guess lol. I guess it has a six pack now...

Just got this last week and decided to try it on a dead branch that was sticking up from a tree in our yard. It started to chop easily but developed these two dimples/burrs whatever- towards the end of the chopping. It only touched the wooden branch no hidden metal or anything that I could see. Not sure what to think, I'm no Bushcrafter. BRKT website says this is a chopper, did I abuse it? Any ideas? My fault or should I send it back?View attachment 357678View attachment 357679

Do you know what type of wood that is by chance?
