On Far Right ... is that a CS folding Bushman?
When first introduced, there were rumors/urban myth it was a "finger guilotine" when closing them. (I don't know if the claims were true.)

Is the knife "dangerous" to fold? (presuming the person involved isn't a moron, or scores lower than the average rock on an IQ test) and keeps their fingers out of the blade's path.)

Lately I've been thinking of getting one ... and a (not Bowie style) fixed blade Bushman, to replace the one lost in move from FL to ID.

Yes.
Idk if they changed it or what but mine doesn’t snap closed too hard in my opinion. Maybe its just my example but i can get it about 45 degrees closed before it wants to close by itself.
By that time hopefully your fingers are out of the way on any folder!
I think the bigger risk is the closing mechanism and sliding your hand up the blade. I could see how it could happen but it shouldn’t if you are aware and paying attention, as you should be with any knife in my opinion.
I just move the blade enough to disengage the lock and then move my fingers.
Watch the video by cold steel about how to operate the lock and if you follow it you should be fine.
i love mine and its pretty much the most modern folder i use these days, unless you include the leatherman. I think if you are used to something like a mercator you should have no problems.
Apologies for the late reply, but I recalled being very excited about these when they were announced nearly 20 years ago, but never picked one up - for, as I remembered, a good reason - but the reason itself was lost to time.

After some googling, I found it. I don't know if they fixed the design, but when these were released, the deal-breaking issue was that you needed to pull on the lanyard to release the ram bar that retains the blade - but if you pull too hard, or too fast, the ram bar can rotate out from under the blade and right out of the blade channel. Awesome - easy disassembly for maintenance, right? Unfortunately, no - because it has the tendency to kink, and thus render unusable, its own little coil spring that keeps the ram bar engaged. An overbuilt knife undone by the lack of an additional retention point for the ram. Shame.

Most unfortunate, because the majority of folks regard it as a very tough, large folder capable of withstanding quite a bit of abuse. If anyone has any knowledge of whether this issue has been fixed in recent iterations, I'd love to know - but don't try it and ruin your spring merely to satisfy my curiosity!!!

He's not really my cup of tea, a little too "tacticool" (do people still say that, lol) but there's a video from 2009 by a YouTube personality whose name rhymes with "Mutt n' Nancy" that does a good job of demonstrating the issue.

I had a hard time believing it myself, but after some similar calculations, I've come to the conclusion that I am indeed getting long in the tooth! 🤣
