Michigan Spring Gathering 2015

I`m going to clarify my idea behind my challenge. It`s always fun to have knives for show and tell, selling, or trading, so it`s fine to bring those along. My challenge was to see if everyone can get by with only using two knives for the weekend. Let`s face it, if you got lost on a hike or something happened to you while you were out in the woods, chances are you would not be carrying more than two knives. (at least I won`t be, I`m too lazy to carry the extra weight)
 
Oh no - I have 45 lbs of JK Knives so I would be carrying that bag if I went hiking.

Well - maybe not.

I did take my "bloody mary" prize knife, the skinny-muk out on the trail with me this past weekend.

If I carried 45 lbs of knives you can be sure I would have a donkey! How did the Muk work out?

It carries nice - you would never know it was there!

I used the scanduckie to start the fire, and we did not have to clean any coyotes for breakfast, so I did not get to use it!

Now comes the hard part, deciding on what two knives to bring. I think one of them will be either a stockman or a trapper. For the other I hope to finish up one I've been working on for myself, if not, probably one of my Buck 110's.

Be sure one of them is suitable for carving....

I was thinking something like the Personal Utility -

I tried the whittler last time on the walking sticks - proved to be too little leverage for the tough wood I had to work with.

Maybe with basswood it will be easier.

I'm thinking one of these two and a SAK. Plus the axe of course. :)

Looks like my new knife will be done this week, I worked on it a bit while handles are gluing on some others.
 
If anyone else is planning on coming, please post here. Right now it's only jds1, mqqn, and me.
 
Shweeet - I am in as well - looking forward to seeing the crew.

Is Boo Kakie Bob coming again? He has some new K-Treet to bandy about.
