Microtech LCC, first impressions

My first impression of my LCC was much like most of yours--WOW! However, on closer inspection after playing with the knife for a half hour or so, the lockup was unsatisfactory. The liner was moving way too far over when engaged and was sticking enough that it tore up my thumb pretty bad when disengaging. I was gonna send it back, but I decided to keep it a little while longer to see if breaking it in helped the lockup. Well, after opening it and closing it a few hundred times over the next few days, I had extremely positive results. The liner now stays flush with the left side of the blade and there's no significant sticking. What a scare that was!

My LCC just came yesterday and I have to say it's a pretty nice knife.

The liner is doing the same thing though, running to about the middle of the blade and sometimes sticking. Then other times it lines up right along the left side of the blade but mostly it's to the center and a little hard to push back to close the knife. Since this is my first liner lock I don't know what's the right way for it to be. Should the locking liner be right at the left edge of the blade? I plan to use this knife a lot and don't want to have to worry about whether it's locking up right or not.

Just picked up my third LCC today. A local gunshop carries a lot of MT's and has good prices. I picked up a stonewash, plain edge. This is what I was after all the time! I put up my BB because it was an early model with thw LCC spelled out. Might be worth more down the road, who knows. The stonewash finish on this one s/n 1359 doesn't seem to have that galvanized look as much as my Socom Elite-Auto does. Has MT changed something? Regardless I still like that finish. BTW two of my LCC's have had no problems with the liner, lockup to the left flush with blade. The second one wanted to come over to the middle but eventually cleared up and now locks up to the left. I noticed another post where several people were talking about their blades being off from center. Anyone experience this? All three of mine have been straight down the middle upon closing.

I've got two now. One to use and one to put in the collection. Both are perfect. My second one was a little smoother initially than the first, but the first one has broken in quite well.

With everyone going on and on and on and on I just had to get one and have to agree with most of you, what a knife for the money!

Mine was a little stiff but some WhiteLightening and now it is very smooth opening, I know some of you like to flick your knives open, me, don't like putting it though that but a friend grabbed mine and flicked it open and his eyes just lit up and he said ` Yeah now this is what I'm talking about!' funny guy!

I picked up the black blade with plain edge and am seriously considering the DA when it comes out soon, just for the trickness of it!

I just got a great Socom user with a combo blade from Mike Payne.

I've been thinking about the LCC with a combo blade, also to be used.

Anyone buy the LCC as a user with the combo blade? Or would the LCC be better as a straight edge design?

Are the prices really going to go up?

I personally prefer plain edge on most knives. Personal preferance. I find the plain edge more versatile.

I hope the price doesn't go up. But it may if supply cant keep up with demand. Awesome knife for the money.

I handled one of the MA's today. I had no idea how big this thing was. The fit & finish were great, smooth opening and it looked like an ok price. But I left it at the store. If i'm buying a microtech, i'm getting a DA.

I'm a sucker for carbon fiber.

I could not wait for my LCC DA to arrive, so I broke down and bought a manual version to hold me over. I got a black combo blade because it is a USER! So far I have only cut some plastic banding material from packages. The serrations made quick work of it. Very impressive to say the least. WOW, what a knife. Hurry up DA models...

I just bought a manual black blade plain edge LCC from Tim Langston. Man, this knife is truly unbeatable for the money (or for double the price)! I would heartily recommend this knife to anyone looking for a 140 dollar Sebenza or custom (actually, the finish and lockup is better than MANY customs I've owned or handled, all from the big boys). RUN to the store and buy one, hell two before the prices go up in November. Microtech has just upped the ante in the knife world bigtime!

All I can say is WOW! Got my LCC D/A today and can't believe it is a production knife. Fit and finish are numero uno. Although, it did take me about 15 minutes to figure out how the darn thing opened(auto).

Once I figured out how the bolster worked, it about flew out of my hand--Very Fast.
