Microtech responds to Natrix.

Disney is very protective of their property almost to the extreme. If the use is licensed there would be an indication of such on the item or packaging. Anyone know somebody with Disney? :D
That's probably why MT quit calling it the Boba Fett and changed it to the Bounty Hunter...

So the response is simple. ZT should make a superior OTF, in a superior blade steel, and sell it for half of what the crap Mikrotek knives go for. :D Win/win.

as much as Kershaw has struggled to make side open autos that consistently work over all these years........its gonna be hard for them. otf is much more complex. i hope they do and get it right but im doubtful until i see it.

I dont know. I'm not interested in a 1lb knife with a 1/4" thick blade.

You may not have looked at new ZTs of the past few years. Plenty of models with weights of 5 ounces or less and blade thicknesses of 0.12"-0.156".

I don't know. ^^^That would be a pretty amazing ZT OTF!!!  :D

ETA - LOL, my 7,000th post. Nice! :p

I don't think they could do it in the Kershaw line. At least not to begin with. I'd bet it'd have to be a ZT and probably wouldn't be any cheaper than an Ultratech.

I'm fine with paying Microtech money for a ZT OTF though. At least I can trust the company.

ZT builds some high quaility knives and their customer service is exelent. Thomas Welk & crew have produced knives that a person like myself couldn't afford otherwise.
Microtech knives are waaaay over priced , their warrenty and customer service is the absolute worst in the knife industry. Imho ripping off ZT really showed what they are all about. Ripping people off. ;)

I just don't believe his story about KAI reps threatening to copy them and blow them out of the market. At best maybe there was good natured ribbing or smack talk during an casual conversation, but no rep is gonna threaten to copy products, just ridiculous. Microtech's response is childish and silly, and barely even addresses the accusations leveled at them in the first place.

we bring shit instead of knives to customers for decades blah-blah-blah
we don't care if they die without money they throwed in a trash when they had any business with us

Ummmmmm......what???

I'm pretty sure Jedi and Sith are trademarks as well...

Judge Dismisses Microtech vs. KAI Lawsuit

In her decision, Judge Barbara J. Rothstein writes that among the email communications “there is no indication that Welk knew, let alone encouraged, Sculimbrene to include [the ‘Natrix’ name, a genus of grass snake] or anything else in his upcoming Article.” Furthermore, she points out that under the law, reposting something another individual wrote is not the same as writing it. “Under the ‘Good Samaritan’ provision of the Communications Decency Act…a ‘provider or [a] user of an interactive computer service’ may not be treated as the ‘publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider.’”
