I expect these will be available in their usual variety of colors and finishes by the end of 2026.

The concerns over the choil are valid, if subjective. It's large. I don't love it aesthetically, but it's needed to accommodate the lock mechanism. In practice, it provides a comfortable choke-up spot in a number of grips. I also like that it's a gentle transition to the sharpened edge, reducing the tendency some choils have to become snag-points. It will never be better than the OG Socom for me, and I definitely understand that the choil is a turnoff for many.. but it's a pretty d@mn cool knife!

Finally the pocket clip where it supposed to be, and now they messed up the choil . Can they just make it all right!

My enthusiasm for this knife died when I saw how they handled the closed-position stop. Yet another knife contacting a stop pin on the choil, very close to the edge. Sharpen that knife enough, or regrind/modify the blade profile in any way that affects the choil, and it seems like the edge will run into the backspacer.

I know it won't affect most owners of the knife, but I can't stand it when a knife is designed that way.

It really is a fantastic looking knife - other than the choil. I am hoping they make another revision on the lock to avoid the choil. I will have to have one or two of those.

Any opinions on what lock would be best? Besides frame or liner lock (not a fan of those).

Wouldn't sharpening cause the edge to get further from the back spacer when closed? That is as long no grinding is done to choil.

I love the socoms but the ram lock is hit and miss. I have an msi which is perfect, a stitch which has pretty bad lock stick and a carbon signature amphibian which has really notchy action even with skiffs in it. I honestly thing rike built the socom better unfortunately.

I personally love this knife and the choil. Even though they’re saying it’s the ram lock elite it’s not the elite, and I don’t think it’s meant to be. Other than the HALOIV, it’s my top pic for the best Microtech of 2025. And I’m an LUDT fan first and foremost always since 96ish. The Blade grind is sick on the titanium version, with the thickest part of the blade running down the center of it. Heck, even the top 1/8” is sharp. The whole knife scaled down one mil, making for the perfect slicing and self-defense EDC. And yes, that choil(due to locking requirements) is freaking awesome! Choke up for finer tasks, and reach out there for quick slices. Anyhow, I really dig the knife. Most excellent job in this configuration.IMG_2477.jpegIMG_2480.jpeg

Howdy, can you please show a shot viewing down the top spine of the Ti Ludt?

Sharpening will gradually move the edge away from the backspacer, yes, but if you sharpen the heel of the blade too much, the blade will suddenly have to move significantly further into the handle to contact the stop pin (and the edge itself will contact the pin, making matters worse). It's not clear to me quite how significant the problem is, but I definitely don't like how it sounds.

So the edge rests on the stop pin? I’m having trouble picturing this setup. The dimensions of the choil should not change when the edge is sharpened. Unless I’m missing something obvious?

Its easier to understand when looking at a close-up:

On a knife this size, this distance might as well be a mile.

They can say it’s a requirement of the lock all they want to - I’m not buying a knife with a blade that short with a massive chomp out of the blade right at one of the most useful areas. Not when we have access to this:

yep. I dont know measurements and such, but I do prefer the liner lock and auto versions myself. this new one feels forced.

Sure you can use my picture. I won’t charge you royalty rights. lol.
To your point about the necessary large choil… It’s what turns a lot of people away from Strider. Love it or leave it.
