Microtech Tachyon Balisong

Yeah, the Tachyon is going to be displayed this weekend at the Atlanta Blade Show and so are several Gemini (the custom balisong from Darrel Ralph).

Believe me when I say that we all know what's going on the balisong world.

I really like the Gemini Balisong, however for a 19 year old. At one thousand dollars it's kindof expensive.

Hi,

I ordered a custom Gemini Balisong with damascus blade, MOP inlay, and etc. (I forgot, It's been almost 7 months). The total I had to pay was about $900 or $700 (again, I forget, been a long time).

But I still remember, the standard Gemini will cost only $300 or $400. It's worht it for a collection. =)

Gee, think of all the China Cheapies you could buy for that...

I sure hope we get to see some pics of the elusive MT Tachyon soon.

I just won my Advance Tech Bali From bladeauction, havn't received it yet. However from the reviews of some other members on this Forum, I think it'll be an excellent knife. However, I don't think I would give up My BM42.

Pics of the Tachyon here!

The MT Tachyon looks excellent. I would imagine as long as Mr. Marfione keeps MT afloat through their Trials & Tribulations as of late, this knife will be produced and available.

At $200.00 MSRP, that seems reasonable, should be able to get it a bit cheaper from Dealers if everything goes well.

The New Benchmades look very good. Don't know where the "surprise" is they were talking about above and beyond what was seen in that thread, I guess you have to be one of the "chosen."

Now, for those of you who like to defend BM when they get a hair across their backside, read what the Dude said that took the pics...

I'll still buy their knives, but, I wish someone would smoke them at this point in the market.

Alright, let's add this all up, how much do I have to save:

~$200 For Tachyon
~$100 For Tanto BM Bali
~$100 For Latch-less BM Bali
~$100 For Black Handle BM Bali

$500 Dollars. Alright, I guess no Summer Vacation for me.
biggrin.gif
I'll just sit around staring at these Bali's. If they're available before summers end!

When my friend asked me why I had an addiction with balisongs, I said well you know I like spending money, and getting cut. Maybe I should have come up with something else
biggrin.gif

Don,

I agree with you, I wish somebody would smoke BM in the balisong market. Take computers for example, with another player on the market it spurs events. e.g. Intel vs AMD. Now that BM has some competition, we see some new Balisongs coming out. But until they have a solid competitor, I think they're pretty safe from being smoked.

Only time will tell. In the mean time, I'm going to enjoy these new bali's as they come out

yeah, I read what he said, but BM really couldn't do anything to stop him, even if they said no the man could still have taken pictures.

I can't wait to get some of those new Bali-Songs!!!!!!

It was pretty crappy of a BM Rep to say what he said about the pics being taken and posted on BladeForums, especially in light of the fact that they said they were going to post pics on their own forum and then split.

For those not familiar with BM, they usually do things like that in their Forum.

I have said many times that I thought eliminating the "40 Series" was a mistake and it never had to be done. Even Chuck has stated the BM45 was the best Production BaliSong ever...

I also said that until there was some competition, like the MT Tachyon and from other Companies who can turn some Balisongs out...there would continue to be stagnation and that until they had to protect the investment in the BM42, that would be the case.

It is no mere conincidence this has happened. I think it is great. I think they have an attitude about things that is unjustified.

All of that having been said, everyone owes Mr. Les deAsis alot, anyone and everyone that loves the Balisong Knife.

I want nothing more than for them to be a success and have a complete line of Balisongs in Production and selling well.

However, the more I see "we'll let you know later today" or, "We'll try to post pics later today..." or whatever, man, that is old. Some of you folks were not over there in their forums before, this is an old story with them.

"Later today" hardly ever comes and that has always been the case.

Then someone who wants to post pics and place at BladeForums gets an attitude? You'd think that a BM Rep. would be tickled pink that someone wanted to take the time to take the pics and upload them, then post them to a Forum of 10,000 potential buyers... Of course, not everyone here is going to buy one, but that is not the point.

I think the "general feeling" is, "We made the Balisong Knife what it is today, and we want to control that." That's fine with me, but I mean...DAMN. Come'on guys [BM].

I want them to be a success at this, then I fluctuate when I hear about statements like that...

I fully intend on buying a Bowie 42 or whatever number they assign it...and others if they are ever made...

I want them to be a success, no I don't, yes I do.

It's actually very frustrating to see Greatness like BM is capable of being, wasted on petty little attitudes regarding opinions and constructive criticisms.

That's why I waffle a bit on the issue. I want more Balisongs, that about sums it up. And if they won't make them and other people will and I, or anyone else, has an opinion on that...WOW...if they get pissed or something, that's their problem.

The Collver Clip-point Bowie is BM #43
The Drop-point Tanto (just like the Elishewitz from what I can see) is BM #47

I'm also waiting for some real good pictures and I'm waiting to see the surprise from BM.

Well, the Drop-Point Tanto is interesting and better than that Monstrosity on the BM44, Flared-Out Tanto from Hell...so I would not rule that out. The one to the left of it in the pics is a mystery, it does not look like a Weehawk or a Drop Point Tanto, I blew it up but I cannot tell...

The Bowie is awesome. A surprise...WOW, let's see...

Looks almost like the 45's weehawk except the last few inches are a little more.....spearpointed or something.

Actually, look at the 42 with the powder coat handles, look how crooked the spine is?!? That's pretty wierd unless it is just a blip of the camera/picture.
