Microtech Tachyon Balisong

Eeeew! I don't much like the look of the handles on the Tachyon.

Now, if you will excuse me, I must take two kidneys to Washington, D.C. [they're not mine, well, I'm taking mine as well and I have two so I guess I mean four.]

Hehehehe
I don't like it too much either, but I still think it will be a great balisong (judging from their previous products)

Oh heck, don't get me wrong - I'm sure it'll be a great performer, and you can always wrap the handles in duct tape anyways.

I believe that the blade in question (4th from left) is a utility/clip point blade style with partial serrations. I acctually like it better than the bowie from the pictures, I think the bowie has too much of a scimitar look to it.

I like the BM #43

, but am disappointed by the Tachyon's picture

The handle is square and ugly.

How long is the blade?

I have to agree with Rick, I'm disappointed in the Tachyon pic

I hope it's just a 'proto' and the 'unfinished' look is due to that. The square handles don't look very ergo at all. And are those gold handles? Maybe magnesium? It often has a gold tone?

Anybody have the scoop on the 'new' features? Are the handles ti or alu? The latch looks convertable and thats good but the rest of it looks pretty conventional

I need something else to cut myself with and so far the Tachyon is not it

Don, the guy I talked to at the Benchmade booth was very nice to me. He showed me a couple of the new models and let me handle them. He also explained the new balisongs to me. I might just have good luck with them or something.

The handles are supposed to be Titanium.

As for people not being happy with the appearance of it...well, well, well...ya just wanted another skel-holed Balisong, did ya? Hahahahahahaha...I think the knife is a radical departure in this genre of knives and very cool...

Now, Benchmade exhibited the "'tude" about putting the pics on Bladeforums. That's what I was speaking of...

Could you discuss the new Bali-Songs with us??

I personally don't like the handles on the Tachyon either, of course it is the first one and Mr. Turber got it a couple days before Blade.

wow. just..........wow.
I mean........wow!
I gotta get me a BM47BLK and a tachyon. I do like the handle design, although I don't like the color or the shiny blade.

If BM didn't want pics on BFC first (or at all), then they should have taken some good, quality pictures and posted them on the website before or during Blade.

What was the name of the gentleman at the BM booth that you spoke to JGardnerA??

DING DING DING DING!!!

This man wins a prize, I don't have one to give him, but he nailed it.

Anyone who was over at the "Old" BM Forum knows that they ALWAYS do this stuff.

When I read that "maybe later today" stuff, I did not say anything till they split for Atlanta.

They usually do that.

Or...only a few certain, select people know how to use Image Tags in brackets? Hahahahaha...all the rest went to Atlanta, right?

Uuuuuhhhmmmkaaaay...

Don - Ok, so some people like it, some don't. Maybe some of us would've actually preferred just another skeleton handled bali. Is that a bad thing? No, it's just personal taste of course.

Now, whether the grip of the Tachyon is as good as the grip on a skeleton handle remains to be seen, especially on the lower hole-less part of the Tachyon's handles.

For all we know, the production model may be different anyways - we'll just have to wait and see I guess.

I like the new Tachyon... I got my order in the second I could to tell the truth. It is a bit shorter than the 42, but it still handles wonderfully. That pic above does not do it justice.

As far as BM and pictures go... I talked to Travis and got pics of the new BMs(not yet developed them) and was given no restrictions as to where I could post and where I couldn't. The reason that there were no pics from BM before hand was a matter of software compatability as far as I understand.

After looking at the picture (tachyon, mt), do you still think the handles are nice ??

I still think the handles are weird, still prefer the original skeleton handles.
