Quick service/warranty experience: Don't experience this often. In 2005 I purchased a DA Microtech ultratech DE OTF dated 6/2005 which i had pretty much abused as my key chain fob. After all these years, the finish was torched, the corners were utterly gouged and rounded. The whole piece seemed like it was chewed on by a hyena. Dropped the knife on the street/concrete so much that it finally failed to properly extract/retract, even with a reset. I finally "busted" the thing. On Aug 18, 2009 got the RMA# by phone and I mailed them the knife with an explanation (& that the knife was malfunctioning due to my dropping it). I asked that the knife mechanism be repaired and if possible the scales be re-"cornered" and re-anodized.Yesterday Sept 01, 2009 i received a box in the mail. That's two weeks. The paperwork advised the knife was too far gone for effective repair as requested. Instead they sent me a brand new knife!

I received a brand new boxed sheathed DA Ultratech OTF melonite w/ updated handle and melonite finish, with knife break/key fob hanger. I suspect there is a minor price differential to account however I believe this was worth reporting that Microtech went above and beyond with service in what must have been an out-of-warranty knife for which i admitted abuse. This was First class service and a great surprise in my experience.

*for reference, the RMA work order sheet listed "Completed by Sales: M. Mangini" w/ a reference to "Chief Quality officer"

OH MY

A happy Microtech Customer service story, does Tony have Alzhiemers or did his sex life improve??

I have found in the past that MT's customer service duties were subcontracted to a team of menopausal Nazi spinsters.

Geeze, maybe the beginning of things to come??

Oh, BTW if you do get a chance to talk to MT Customer service could you ask them where My DA Ultratech melonite OTF is. I sent it in for an updated handle and a knife/break key fob hangar and they said they "misplaced" it. Remind them it was in a brand new box when I sent it to them!!!!

Interesting to see they are back in the knife business. Perhaps the pistol business wasn't all it was cracked up to be.
