Mid-priced watches

Oh I can understand that. I came across that forum when looking for a new G-Shock for work a few years ago. I joined in April of 06 and now currently own about 44 watches :o.

Welcome to my world

:-)

I've been wearing one of these for the past 7 years. Works great, looks great, and has "soul." (Well, to me at least). Howard is a great guy to deal with to boot.

The O&W have a good rep.
Can't say the same for westcoastime and the owner (check out GBU here and some other forums).

I have both a modded monster (bead blasted to cut down the bling, MKll orange sterile face, sword hands, and chapter ring) and an all original 6309, a predecessor to the 007.

Both great watches. They sit on the wrist a little differently. Both can take a lot of abuse.
The 25+ year old 6309 runs nuts on, the monster gains a little but well within what I need it for.

The 6309 has never been serviced! Salt water, fresh water, sauna, daily wear banging, wrenching on cars, hunting, camping, etc.. Lume is shot however.

As said earlier, if you like the looks of these try to get one on your wrist to see if you like them. They are not for everybody. But both can be modified if you like and resale will always hold.

You can pay a lot more and not get as a dependable and flexible a timepiece as these Seikos. The movement is a friggin workhorse and lume is what others are measured. My only complaint on the monster design is the 20mm lugs instead of 22mm.

Good luck! ;)

Hmmm - first I have heard of "issues" with WCT. All my experience has been very positive. For example, I send it my diver for service (7 years of EDC and it needed new seals, etc - also the mineral glass crystal was scratched and I wanted to upgrade it to sapphire). Howard not only got it fixed & billed me only his cost, he also put on a new bracelet in place of mine as a gift since my old was was pretty scratched and worn and it didn't "look very nice" on the newly refinished watch.

WS,

Glad it worked out for you. :)
He messed over a couple of highly respected members here. :thumbdn:
Use the search function in the Good, Bad, and Ugly sub forum if you want to know more. Maybe he has recently cleaned up his act...

This guy is good (can't say about customer service though) and his new Sea Fighter and Sting Ray builds are the real deal.

Plus, there is a cool feature on his site that allows you to build your own watch or see what different modifications would look like on various models, including the 007. Parts only though. :D

I really like the Stingray, that's one I'd like to have and since the price on an original 50 Fathoms has shot up so much the Stingray would be a good substitution. I may end up with one even though it has the dreaded (for me) 2824 in it. :D

Before he started making his own watches he did do mods to Seikos and O&Ws, that's where I bought mine from. He did the movement mods then sent it to IWW to be beadblasted.

Yup Mkii has been good so far when it comes to responding to my emails. It is hard to bare the long wait for custom pieces but good things come to those who wait. Can't wait for the seafighter to wrap around my wrist.

How about a Tissot PRC 200. It's a great looking watch, WR to 200m. Get it with black and yellow face and black leather. About $350.
