Since we got back from the gathering I've used the Machax exclusively for my evening fire prep, limbing trees, cutting saplings out of the fence rows and everything I've needed a big knife for. This has been an eye opener for me and a blast learning all the nuances, tricks and subtleties. It's becoming one of my all time favorite blades. (If anybody has convexed theirs, I'd like to hear how it performs.)


Mine's stripped and wearing some Camillus grivory.

I really love those bk4s, I need to pick one up.

What is the difference between the camillus grivory and the kabar grivory?

The 4 does have a learning curve and isn't for everyone. I do love mine tho!

I think it is one of the sleepers like the 5.
 
Trade....I convexed mine.
It chops, cuts, and slices on a whole other level.
It turned a good knife into something truly special!

Haven't used mine much, but when I did use it I came away impressed with it. I will probably convex it soon on the worksharp and give it another beating.
 
I had one, but never used it, and sold it. I just didn't think it would do anything the 9 wouldn't do. Perhaps I'll get another one of these days, and give it a go.
 
I need one of them. I agree with Dex about it being one of the sleepers much like my beloved 5. I find myself grabbing it more than the 7 I have put so much love for out to everyone I meet.

Need to get my hands on a Machax soon.
 
my 4 was second becker and one of my favorite knives i own, it goes with me on every outing,

It's got a small convex, I'd like to do more and then really thin it out near the handle. It's already a pretty good carver even measured against shorter knives, but if the first 2" were say, 20 -25°? Even more love for the mighty Machax.
