Mighty Machax

Good lord this is sexy.

I've had one for a day and a half. The sheath is a very clever design, nice work! I fitted my usual quick change lanyard, and a leg tie. I can assure you, the coating will light a wood match... while it has a coating.

Okay, mine has met the belt grinder and been thinned out and convexed. It's baby shaving sharp and I'm looking forward to sunrise...:D

Trade, I think this little fella could use your help.

Possibly Todd's baby pic.:D

I went into the knife store to again see if my 9 is here (turns out no and I doubt will ever be so I'll have to buy one elsewhere) and needless to say having money was not the best idea for my budget but was great for my collection...

You can't not have a Machax! Can't wait to use it after work tomorrow morning.

I just couldnt get into the 4 when I tried one. I know its a great knife, I just think I dont know the ins and outs of it just yet.

Mine is convexed and it can cuts almost as well as my mother in law's insults...impressive to say the least

This thread is making me wish I didn't sell my Machax.

The bk4 is an excellent knife of utilitarian design. The weight forward design is effective but it is not as heavy and cumbersome as some. It is light in the hand as does not tire the user.

The Machax is my first large Becker. I bought it to fill a niche and I think its going to do well. I bought it to take when I camping out of my kayak. As space is at a premium I didn't really want to take both a machete and a hatchet and the Woodsmen's Pal that someone gave irritates me in use and I've never warmed up to it.

I took the 4 out around the yard after getting it and I can already tell that I'm going to like it. It will be plenty in most situations that I can imagine encountering and I think I'm going to carry it for a lot of other things besides just camping.

I won a Machax from Moose a couple years ago and did a full height convex on it (with a file). I made it a little thinner near the handle for use as a draw knife, and it seem to help. Not that I find myself using a draw knife very often.:D

Using it around the farm is the reason I haven't bought a 9 (Yeah, I said it).

Getting close to time to sand off some of the rust and oil it down.

Convexing it really made a difference with saplings and smaller vegetation, but I think it lacks the mass to be very efficient on dried timber. It has earned a place in the stable, that's ferdamshure.

I think it's an ideal knife for paddle camp. Clearing a campsite, making fire wood, flipping steaks. Yep, it's going in my hatch. :D
