Mighty Machax

Ran across the smouldering remains of a fire yesterday hiking around at the Falls of the Ohio State Park. Had to hack on the largest log with my freaking awesome Machax.

Used my machax to trim a Rose of Sharon blocking my basement door. Did a great job, unfortunately it was so I could take sh!twater sewerage overflow out. Backed up and leaking sewer pipes SUCK even if you have a Mighty Machax.

Bumming around my parents place today so I decided to take the Bk4 out to play a little and learn its quirks a bit better.
I found a downed cedar tree, lopped the limbs off, chopped it in half then I used it aw a draw knife and whittled away at a good 2 foot section pulling nice long log width curls off.

Awesome blade!

I used my 1 x 30 to put a convex on my BK-4 today. I never could get it really sharp before but it is now!
I haven't had a chance to use it yet but it will be an improvement I'm sure.

I might raise the grind a little more to thin out the edge near the handle to make it better for fine carving though.

I will have to decide if I want to convex my Camillus BK-4.

Got it last fall. 1/4 thick beast. No swedge.

I believe I posted a picture of it in the Northeast Beckerhead gathering thread from last year. Got it at a gun and knife shop on the way to trailbum's house.

Sweet. I think about getting a 4 again. I probably won't though. My 9 works well enough. If I did, it would be more about the cool factor.

After I did this, I took mine to the Worksharp and put 25 degree's on the sweet spot, and 20 on the area near the handle for finer detail work. It works very well, holds an edge on the chopper while beating it through all kinds of stuff and makes feather sticks and shavings very easily.

My next Becker is either going to be this Beast or the BK9. Decisions, decisions, decisions...
Get yourself a 4. You already have the 10 so I see the 4 as a great next option.

I did my best at electro etching my logos and stripped her and then stippled the grivory. Doubtful I'll do a patina on this one, ill let her gain one through good ole natural use. I think this is slowly becoming my favorite knife alongside my TOPS BoB and BK5.

I grabbed some camo micarta and when picking a likely model to wear them, the Machax stepped forward.

In keeping with all the Machax love lately, here's my new baby. Gifted to me over the weekend by a friend from Michigan at the gathering.
