Mighty Mite

As luck would have it, I picked up a new mighty mite today after reading Frank's review. At first glance it's a solid little knife. I'd say mine is a step up in fit and finish from the rough riders that I have. It came pretty sharp, but a good stropping brought it up to shaving sharp. No play, the only blemish I found was an uneven grind, but perfectly suitable and it will even out in no time. I've been reluctant to pick one up, because you don't hear much about the new production old timers around here. But, I'm quite impressed. I'm going to carry it for awhile, and then I'll come back and give a more complete review.

I have one inbound also. I'm really looking forward to it

I have to say, the recent production Schrades I've seen seem to be stepping it up in the F&F department.

That does seem to be the case. The dropping of the key construction, decent fit and finish, and edge holding that is better than the case true sharp seems to amount to an actually better knife than the original Schrade. Heresy I know, but there it is. I've been pretty impressed by the Chinese cutlery I've seen like my friend Chet's Rough Rider knives he loves to accumulate and abuse.

Schrades were a working mans knife, and the new stuff seems to be keeping up with that.

Been tempted to try the new Taylor Schrades. I have severaal USA Schrades including the 108OT and the 72OT. Love the 1095 steel, holds a great edge, but sometimes in the summer in sweaty pockets they need extra care.

A few months ago my friend Nemo gave me a Shrade Old Timer Minuteman. I recently sharpened it up and have been carrying it for a few weeks npw. I have notice that the old USA made Old Timers that I have need a few sharpenings before they become good. I like the size and cutting ability of these small knives.

Been carrying my new one for a few days now. I can't believe this good a quality knife cost me $10 with shipping. It came razor sharp, fit & finish are very good. It's every bit as good as my original.
