Mili 2?

It's going to be a flat grind.

The feedback on the 154CM Manix 2 will be enough to ensure this. Many diehard Manix users were unhappy.

Their focus is to improve the knife, I doubt they'll change the grind.

Spoilsport.

Compression lock.

Imagine a buttery smooth, tough as nails Millie.

Being a status quo kind of person, I am not real optimistic about a new Military. How can it be improved, really? For my part, the old Manix was way better than the new as well.

I understand the march toward "improvement". Thats how we got the awesome Delica 4. But the Military is about as good as it gets already. At least in my book.

I have a similar feeling. Granted, I love the Manix 2 at it's price point, and the CBBL. However, I have similar thoughts about the Military, with the long blade, simplistic clip, light weight, thin, great liner lock. I don't see it getting much better, but I guess we'll have to wait, see, and buy all the old ones if we don't like it. :p

im curious, does anyone know what the diff between mil 1 and 2 will be? or is it all speculation at this point?

I think all we know for sure is that it will have a four-way clip. Sal may have mentioned more but I don't recall anything else. Maybe they'll get around to actually putting the Securlok in it this time as well.

AFAIK, unless plans have changed, the Military 2 was conceived as the test bed for Spyderco's newest lock which, IIRC, is/was called the Stop Lock.

Hey Paul,

Do you have any more info on this Stop Lock? Who invented it?

I'm pretty sure the Military 2 will be flat ground. Why change a knife renowned for its slicing ability? The manix, on the other hand, is designed to be a beefy throw anything at it folder. I never had the original, but I was a bit apprehensive about the hollow grind on the Manix 2 until I got it... and now I believe that they made the right choice. The tip geometry on this knife is great. When the new full size manix comes along, it will make a great compliment to the Military.
