Mili 2?

It's going to be a flat grind.

The feedback on the 154CM Manix 2 will be enough to ensure this. Many diehard Manix users were unhappy.

Their focus is to improve the knife, I doubt they'll change the grind.

As much as forumites complained about the grind, I suspect sales numbers tell a different story.
If the Mili 2 were released at $80, how many more people would buy it? The forums would be in flames, but as long as we see enough sprint runs I don't think people would complain for long.
On the other hand the distal taper flat grind is kind of integral to the overall design of the Military. A hollow ground version really wouldn't be the same knife.

No doubt the Manix 2 was a success.

But I like to think that Spyderco's reps actually listen to feedback from the forums and factor it in on their decision making. There was a fairly large reaction on both BFC and Spyderco's forum when the 154CM Manix 2's blade grind was announced. There was also much rejoicing when they announced the FFG version.;)

true. I apparently became interested in spydercos about 2 months too late. I just bought a paramilitary to try, and I'm confident it will be a great knife, but that sprint run manix 2 looks like it might be my 'holy grail' folder. I just don't really feel like paying secondary market prices for one. sure would be nice if they made it a regular production piece :D

I'll also be eagerly waiting to see how the mili 2 changes. more clip options and a different lock are my main interests.

If Chris Reeve made a Seb with hole I would probably buy my last knife. :D

Well luckily the TiMil RIL is just around the corner.
Even if S30V is an overly common, medium performance steel, I'm still considering picking one up.
I can remember looking over the specs of the Umnumzaan one night, comparing it with all sorts of other knives. I almost came to the conclusion it was a decent sized folder worthy of purchase.

Then I compared it with the Military...
The Umnumzaan can wait.

We have no intention to change the grind of the Military. Slight ergo improvements, new lock (lefty friendly) and 4 way clip are planned.

On the Manix2, I understand there is a FFG sprint version in the works with another color G-10 scale.

yeeeehhhaaaawwww!!! no need for sprint runs and limited numbers!

hmmmm (lefty friendly) what can that mean?

Back lock?
CBBL?
Compression?

See post #14 & #17. Here's the google patent:link.

Side note; the compression lock is about as lefty-friendly as a regular liner-lock. Workable but very much less than ideal.

Sal, did you just confirm rumors of a 154CM, FFG Manix 2 with Orange G-10 scales?

Stop lock I believe. Search around the Spyderco site for more information. Other then that, no idea.
