Military Clasp Knives

And quite often they are so lightly stamped that it will have worn off.

Gorgeous Admiralty pattern 301 Jack, can we have a better look please ?:)

Thanks my friend  I found the old 301 all rusted-up among a pile of old tools.

Jack:eek::eek::mad:How could somebody leave such a beautiful knife in that sort of state.

Congratulations on the find and putting the time and effort into the restoration and bringing the 301 back to life.:D

Absolutely, though I have to say I've seen far worse :(

Thank you, once I got to work, it really didn't take as long as I thought it would, 2 or 3 hours as I recall :)

Nice resuscitation, Jack! You have breathed new life into that old warhorse!!

Thanks Charlie, my skills are very modest, but I don't mind putting in a bit of elbow grease :)

Wow, Jack! I had no idea that is what it started out as. Fine rescue on that old beauty!

Well done Jack. Great restoration of a fine old knife.

Thanks guys, it was in such a state that I nearly didn't spot it among a pile of equally rusty old tools! :D

I've been carrying this one today, made by Richards in 1944.

Hello all

I'm going to try & post a pic of some of my latest purchases. I hope it works!
Cheers

By jove I think it worked !

The knife shown second from left was said to be a Belgian navy knife but I can't find out much about it. I'll try & post a few more pic's later.

Cheers
Dave:)

Cheers Jack

Nice 1944 Richards

I managed to get a 1942 Taylors Eye Witness clasp knife on a car-boot the other day. The seller wanted £5.00 but I got it for £4.00:D. I'll take a pic' as soon as I'm able.

Cheers
Dave

Thanks Dave :)

Sounds like you got a bargain with that TYE  I have a couple myself, and they're well-made knives. The quality of the Richards was a total surprise, one of the best I've had I think

Here's a pic of my Needham NAAFI Knife, had this one with me today :)

That's a beauty.
Forgive my ignorance (I don't have my knife book to hand & whilst I know I've read about them I can't remember ) but what's a NAAFI knife?
Cheers
Dave:)

Thanks Dave, have a look at Page 9 ;)

Nice collection Etchy. The knife in the bottom right looks like a Belgium Army. What is the stamp on that one?

Hello smiling-knife thanks for that.
Yes I think it is Belgium Army but my others have ABL plus whatever name, this is marked Colin Winand with an odd arrow symbol too but no ABL or any other marks. Any ideas?
Cheers
Dave
