I'm appealing to the collective wisdom of the forum rather than emailing every knife company in existence individually. Does anyone know which companies offer military discounts? How about head-of-line privileges for back ordered knives? Any other military-friendly services? I'm looking to add a few knives to my collection before we deploy and I figure I'd ask before I start spending my meager pay to get my knife fix.

I've enjoyed the benefits of this community's knowledge for a while, but I'm just deciding to join in and start posting. Thanks in advance for any information that can be provided.

i know strider gives military discounts, also call busse combat, i know they take military orders as well.

as with all military personnel, you are in my thoughts brother.

Howdy,

Do you want to know which retailers have a military discount?

or were you thinking about semi-custom (strider, busse) knives direct from the makers?

good point, nearly every retailer will give a military discount.

companies like surefire and strider give about 20 percent, i think.

Contact Mike Stewart at Bark River Knife & Tool. He may be able to help you out.

Thanks for the replies guys.

For the average production knife, I've found that simply googling will find the lowest prices from one of the e-merchants. For example, I once asked Emerson about it and they offered 10% off, but I could get their knives for about 40% off if I looked around a bit elsewhere. I'm more curious about some of the companies that don't flood the market with their knives, companies the likes of Busse, CRK, Swamp Rat, etc. Incidentally, they're also the ones with the big price tags that make me cringe and want to ask around about discounts. I'd also be interested in small time custom makers who are military friendly.

Sorry I didn't clarify very well. I'll give the ones mentioned a call. I'm a bit scared to go near Busse though. Their knives seem to come infected with some kind of addiction-inducing virus that I'm not sure I can afford to catch.

INFIDICTION IS HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS!! SYMPOMS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: INFIFEVER, INFISIGHT, INFIITCH, INFISCRATCH, INFIATTITUDE, AND AN INSATIABLE DESIRE TO CALL AMY-O.

That aside, give them a call, im sure they can help you out. and strider is known for military friendliness. and you probably wont find either brand cheaper with a google search.:D

A.G. Russell has a military discount (around 20%). His website has details.

OUR MILITARY, POLICE, FIRE AND EMT DISCOUNT IS 25%

Once you are in Iraq or Afghanistan if you will email me at agr@agr3.com I will see about getting every person in your entire unit a quality knife, paperback book, couple of magazine, our field tweezers and other small items to make your life easier.

The War On Troop Boredom has mailed about 20,000 good knives to the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. A. G.

That is a great discount. I may have to pick up an Al Mar SERE Operator from you guys since that would make it cheaper than anywhere I've seen thus far. I'm in a holding pattern since my birthday is in two weeks and knives are at the top of my list, so I have to wait to see if any of the family plans to feed my addiction. Whatever they don't get me, I'm sure to spend half a paycheck acquiring it myself.

As far the War on Troop Boredom, that sounds like a fantastic program! I couldn't ask you to send that sort of stuff to my company because I'm with the Headquarters Company of my Division and we'll be in a built-up area of Afghanistan. Not too mention that most of my company is made up of field grade officers who make 4 times as much money as I do and don't need any handouts. However, we are taking one of our Brigade Combat Teams along to act as our door-kickers. I might try to find someone to pass your information along to because I know a brigade of infantrymen spending a year in Afghanistan would really appreciate that kind of gesture. Thank you for your show of support.

If you will call Randall Made Knives they will put you in front on the line (now its over 5yrs. wait) and give you a discount on the price too. I learned this from a person in the army who got a couple of Randalls that way.
BTW, A.G. Russell also carries some Randalls but you have to catch them when they have them.

Thanks for the offer. If we took money we would have to have a non-profit corp and another accountent. Right now we have about 15,000 paperback books from our friends and customers. When we get short again we will ask for more.

Buying stuff works!

We can always use movies (DVD only please) and CDs thanks for asking.

Cold Steel offers discounts to military, law inforcement, and emergency rescue. I think the discount is 10% off of their direct order prices, which are already 10 to 25% off of retail, depending on the item.

CS is also widely available in the PXs and I know that the military is one of their biggest customers. Also, Lynn Thompson and CS have given away thousands of dollars of knives to servicemen and women over the years. I seem to remember that they gave away a rather large clutch (in the 100's- but don't quote me) of their old Recon Scouts to the military in the last Gulf War.

Hard pressed to find another company that has given away more product to the military, as well as giving a decent discount.
