Military Knife Forum?

No there isn't one and yes I think there should be one . As long as it's kept to military issued knives (. i.e fairburn and Sykes . USMC . M3 etc) and should include bayonets . From the past to the present . This is just my opinion :)

Bayonet thread? Anyone?
I second that thought :cool::thumbsup:

Collectable vintage whatevers get posted in the bernard levine section within these forums.
And current or modern day military knife topics end up right here in the general section.
I suppose it might help to have a forum of its own.
But imho the best way to gauge the interest level, is to see the actual number
Of positive responces to this immediate thread for that call ;-)

I have one that’s almost identical to that. It’s either British or French, I can’t ever remember.
It's Japanese Owen K. and It was attached to a Type 99 short rifle I got from my father who got it from his uncle. One day I will pass it on to one of my sons. It still has the soldiers name on the Belt frog. Can anyone read Japanese?

Well, we already have subs, where you are welcome to post any sort of military knife you might own.

With a dedicated sub announcing MIL knives, youll attract other people than mainstream knife owners/collectors.
Not that there is anything wrong with that but there will be some Third Reich blades posted and MODs will have to deal with the inevitable hysterical PC outbreaks of forum members in foetal positions hugging their knees and general derailing of threads.
Just look at the latest reactions to a German WWII knife and youll see what I mean.
You have to read some of the comments supposedly from adults to believe them.
Nope, aint nobody got time for that.

Im all for any sort of MIL knife out there (as witnessed below) but there are dedicated forums for them out there and we are already welcome to post them here on BF.

I had a Cataraugus 225 quartermasters knife. I see one in the photo above. The one that I had was near mint. Damn, I wish I still had that knife.

The 225Q is a favorite of mine.
Ive accumulated a few more since the pic above:D
Below are some of them.
NB the Cattaraugus 225Q was never a dedicated quartermasters knife, thats a myth.

Yes, there should be a dedicated military knife and bayonet forum, and this post illustrates why it is necessary. There is much more to military items than basic identification; there is also the history behind each item which can sometimes be recovered by examining manufacturing, inspection, unit, personal markings and the provenance of the item. Many of these things have been used on specific campaigns, so any discussion on these items will usually lead to a discussion of the item within the context of its military and historical role. Even beyond that, these items served as weapons, tools and dress accoutrements.

It is difficult to get into all of that on a chance thread under a knife identification sub-forum. We could really use a place dedicated to military history enthusiasts who enjoy our hobby.

X 2 on that thought. It would make for. Much better read when you don’t get side tracked by some guy asking about a K Bar he bought from Wally Mart.

I just created a thread in general hopefully that was the right place.

If it brings out posts like this drivel I'm firmly against it.

Seconded. Some are blind to their own hypocrisy, doubtless.

I take it you didnt bother reading the thread I referred to:D
A 'burn it with fire!!' comment was just one post in reaction to a HJ youth organisation knife with the diamond swastika handle insert.
