I have one that’s almost identical to that. It’s either British or French, I can’t ever remember.I second that thought![]()

It's Japanese Owen K. and It was attached to a Type 99 short rifle I got from my father who got it from his uncle. One day I will pass it on to one of my sons. It still has the soldiers name on the Belt frog. Can anyone read Japanese?I have one that’s almost identical to that. It’s either British or French, I can’t ever remember.
You might be thinking about this common bayo instead:I have one that’s almost identical to that. It’s either British or French, I can’t ever remember.
The 225Q is a favorite of mine.I had a Cataraugus 225 quartermasters knife. I see one in the photo above. The one that I had was near mint. Damn, I wish I still had that knife.
I have one of these but it has a sway in the blade. It's French from what I can tell. Hard to know exactly, the whole darn world seemed to make those at about the same time. Nice bayonets though.I second that thought![]()

X 2 on that thought. It would make for. Much better read when you don’t get side tracked by some guy asking about a K Bar he bought from Wally Mart.Yes, there should be a dedicated military knife and bayonet forum, and this post illustrates why it is necessary. There is much more to military items than basic identification; there is also the history behind each item which can sometimes be recovered by examining manufacturing, inspection, unit, personal markings and the provenance of the item. Many of these things have been used on specific campaigns, so any discussion on these items will usually lead to a discussion of the item within the context of its military and historical role. Even beyond that, these items served as weapons, tools and dress accoutrements.
It is difficult to get into all of that on a chance thread under a knife identification sub-forum. We could really use a place dedicated to military history enthusiasts who enjoy our hobby.

Seconded. Some are blind to their own hypocrisy, doubtless.Quote from Bladescout:

If it brings out posts like this drivel I'm firmly against it.
