Military personnel, "Count off...."

I was drafted (lottery of'71). Did my stint, and moved on. Those were only chapters 18&19 of my life's story. I'm on chapter 46 now.
I'm proud of our military services and all those that serve.

prigger,

I'm not IN the military, but I couldn't help noticing where you're stationed, so I had to jump in here.

I'm at Pax River MD as well, an engineer on the E/F.

As for knives, all...

U.S. Navy active duty. Currently stationed at the Naval Special Warfare Center in Coronado CA. BUD/S trainee with two trashed out knees. Currently in supply department with all of the goodies awaiting my third knee surgery to correct a lifetimes worth of abuse.

I am sure Chief Cude had no idea that a fellow forumite was the one shipping him all of the goodies from the sunny coast. Hey Chief, maybe we can work out some good trades

I did 6 yrs in the USMCR as a Military Police officer. I got out as an E-5 and am currently a police officer in Michigan. As for my favorite knives? All of em!! Seriously though, I am becoming a huge fan of Randalls and like just about anything made of damascus. I carry a buck 110 on my duty belt and love its durability.

Hey Derek,

Well at least we got the stuff this time. Last time it disappeared on us, thanks for the timely response BTW. Drop me a line

A little late on this post. Started out as 11C back in '88, thought I'd go high-tech and got my commission as a Signal Officer. Able to see 2ID in S.Korea; Fort Bragg sent me to a dozen Central/South American countries...currently a S-3 Ops guy in a Sig Bde at FT. Hood, TX (need to get back to FT. Lewis!).

Hey Mike (moamike), you know Russel McDaniel? Use to be my 1SG in PSYOP at FT. Bragg and I'd heard he just made E-9, he's somewhere in 1st SFG.

Knife interests go back to my first SAK and my first "tactical" blade was a Gerber MK II I bought at FT. Benning, GA. My current interests are BM, Spyderco, Chris Reeve, Emerson, Mission, MD, Busse, Randall, Polkowski, Bud Nealy,...better stop there!

It's great to see so many Active, Reserve, and prior service members on this forum...there's a wealth of knowledge and experience we can share with the other forumites!

God Bless, shoot straight and keep your knives sharp!

Dave

15 years in USN as an "Opticalman" (repair everything from bino's & night vision gear to submarine periscopes). Chief Petty Officer, currently stationed in Groton CT. Although I have a few knives to choose from, a well worn Spyderco Police Model usually finds it's way into my right front pocket. Occasionally a Leatherman Wave sits in an old ballistic nylon riggers pouch next to a Streamlight Scorpion flashlight if I will be tinkering on a scope down on a boat.

SGT, commo guy! Spent my time at Ft Bragg. Along with numerous TDY trips everywhere else. Loved knives since I was a kid, now I'm stuck in Saudi Arabia in a commcenter.

I had to reply to this thread, if just to say that I am the other William Johnson (but I'm sure not the only other one) in the military.
