Military vs. Paramilitary 2

I was born in the 80's and respectfully disagree! The Military is a way larger, clumsier version of the PM2 with tip down only!Spyderco got it right the second time around. Good thing we have options!

Really?

Yes really. I find it too large for edc tasks and clumsy for detailed work. I do however carry mine while doing yard work. I apologize if my opinions aren't the same as everyone else's.

I think it's the phrasing more than the opinion. Saying the military is clumsier than the pm2 is kind of like saying that Michael Jordan is clumsier than a ballet dancer. Technically it might have some truth to it but you are going to get some eye rolling from anyone who has ever witnessed what Michael is capable of. Neither Michael nor Milie really deserve that moniker. ;)

P.S. Sorry I couldn't come up with a more current athlete. I've been in the jungle too long.

I can't argue with your point, very well said my friend! I really should start carrying mine more and it may warm up to me.

Well, I know it's not the knife...it must be something else. :D

I just used a saw, a hammer, and my M390 Military to build this. I even used the military to split the bamboos into slats. It wasn't the least bit clumsy. Oh yeh, I used a brush to apply the varnish, the millie is unfortunately, not that versatile.

I have a bunch of both the para and the military. Both are great knives. I like the paras compression lock - that being said, the militarys liner lock is the best out there and I have never had any problem with either one. Ergos on both are excellant. I find that I do not notice much difference between the para and the military when I am carrying - I carry in the back righthand pocket. The military carries exceptionally well for such a big knife. You mentioned the endura - which I carry as much as the para and the military. I would recommend that you look at the endura in ZDP189. Great blade steel. I have it in both the saber grind and the FFG. I do feel that the saber grind is a bit more robust than FFG. You really can't go wrond with any of the 3 - a bit more blade with the military and the endura.

Very nice work! I've been into woodworking for the last 12 years but untortuenelty since my 3 kids came along there's less time to play! I've never incorporated a folder into my woodworking as I've always had a better tool for the job. With that said I've never split bamboo pole either.
For the OP's sake lets get back on topic. My vote goes to the PM2.

Based on what the op seems to want, mine does too.

My 2 cents is that he can't go wrong with either.

Thanks but the table is a bit on crude side and I need to shim one of the legs so it won't wobble. :)

If you broke a lock bar then the tips on the Millie and PM2 are probably not going to hold up for you. Someone will probably be along and say they have pounded their Millie through a car door with no damage but both knives are at their best slicing things IMO, ymmv.

I love them both. But personally, I feel they fill different roles. I EDC (when not at work) my PM2. If I feel like the extra blade length might be useful, then the Millie it is. I just don't like the 1 carry option on the Millie. Other than that, it carries phenomenally for being such a large folder. IMO, I'd get a PM2 before I got a Millie. Solely because I can get a Millie from just about anywhere.
